Becoming a Verizon Wireless customer even though I am still with Alltel

I wanted to get a mini laptop, or netbook.  I am currently with Alltel and we have no hope of ever getting another carrier for phones here as we are just too rural.  Even my local Alltel agent told me to just get a Verizon wireless account and get the laptop special that is offered here, then later when we are switched over to verizon billing she would combine our current alltel and verizon into one bill.

Is this possible?  And second, on the plan I was looking at, how much is 250 megabytes of usage?  At home here I have DSL and I have no idea how many megabytes I use in a months time.

Thanks and am open to any suggestions.  What I wanted to do mainly is watch streaming java pages for Scottrade online brokerage for probably a week or two at a time through the day, and maybe a little web surfing.

At least for now, it would be better if you get an alltel data card as those do not have the data cap.

The netbooks, you can get a cheap dell mini9 for 300 shipped from dell. No sense in making a  2 year contract to get a netbook.

I know att had a deal with the mini9 that the mini would come out free afterrebate if you signed a 2 year agreement.I hope verizon catches up to that idea.   I mean they  were giving us free blackberrys which cost retail at around 350 if we would do a 2 year contract. Maybe they will do that to the netbooks later on.
