What's available now?  That's the problem.  If only someone at Verizon would tell me what is being offered, I could then choose to take it or leave it.  Why all the mystery?  It's like paying in advance for a box that may or may not be empty.

And still no one from Verizon has weighed in...

Verizon employees are clearly marked as such. No mystery. Go to Verizonwireless.com. Mouse over SHOP then mouseover PLANS & SERVICES the click MORE EVERYTHING then scroll down to you get to Build Your New Plan choose BASIC PHONE scroll down just a bit and you'll 700 Minutes for $5

Sorry qdemon, I guess I do get wound up when I see answers being provided, but because the answering person does not have the Verizon icon their answers are not accepted. I work for a wireless vendor, not Verizon specifically, but I try to stay up to date on plans and changes (no easy task) and this board has helped me immensly. I now recognize the people that provide the most accurate information and those who truely try and help others.

elliew: I do appreciate your efforts but something odd is going on at Verizon.  The plan you described no longer appears anywhere.  I even tried "licensed retailers" like Walmart, Costco, Target and Wirefly and each of them had a different take:

  • 700 minutes only (no N&W and no M2M) + .45/min overage
  • no roaming charges or .69/min roaming
  • unlimited texting or .20 per text
  • $5/mo e-mail access or not

The only common theme was the base 700 minutes and the 1.99/MB pay-as-you-go data charge.  Some mentioned the $35 activation fee while others did not.  If the retailers can't get it straight and Verizon won't disclose its terms I guess it's time to throw in the towel.  I don't see myself paying the activation fee, the ETF and the restocking fee (about $250 total) just to get out of the contract if I'm not satisfied.

I don't know why you can't find it anywhere. I can still see it here on the website on the More Everything plan. 700 minutes, unlimited text, pay as you go data, $25/month. Of course you have to switch the default smartphone on the More Everything Build Your Plan cost calculator to a basic phone to see this plan since it is not available with smartphones.

Yeah it's clearly there. it;s almost as if hes begin deliberately obtuse. I can't believe someone that who was given SPECIFIC links for this plan can be that oblivious.

I am beginning to think we're dealing with a completely immoral and dishonest company. Reading these, the continued theme is "Verizon employee said" and then either we're told they aren't an employee or they were merely incorrect and tough luck, rube.

Verizon needs to be sued in a class action federal suit to get their attention to the problems their atrocious pricing plans produce and be forced to refund lost fun and treble damages as any losing company would, when it's an antitrust violation.
