I know this has been asked a million times, but I have a twist I don't think has been answered...
I have patiently waited for the day I could cancel everything and finally have some leverage in pricing again. I have no phones on payment plans any longer, 5 lines on unlimited and I could use new phones for at least 4 of the lines.
If I add a line of service to get a BOGO deal, everyone says I can cancel an old line and "lose the number" but not cancel the new line.
Can I add new lines of service with new devices, then swap phone numbers between old and new lines, then cancel the old lines?
If not I'm probably looking at another carrier. I probably want the Pixel 3 XL and with BOGO that is a huge savings but old loyal customers don't get the love...

No, that would be the same as not having to add a new line of service.
There are ways around this, though. You could port your old line to a service such as Google Voice and then port it back in over the new number or you could simply use Google Voice on your new line of service to send/receive calls.
I believe there is a $20 charge to port your current number to Google Voice. Not sure what the charge is, if any, to port it out of Google Voice.

GeekAtHeart,
I know receiving the best promotion and being able to keep your same phone numbers is important. I don't want this to be the reason you shop for a different carrier. We want our loyal customers to feel loved and I can help with these concerns.
At this time, I have sent you a Private Message and I'll be able to further assist you there. I can assure you that we'll get all of this addressed.

BOGO deals are new lines/port ins. If you really want to go through the effort, you can add new lines, port your old numbers out and then port back in.

I've had them before, too, and did not have any problem with their coverage or speed. It wasn't much different than with Verizon and their international rates are FAR superior which is why I had them when I needed a phone for 6 months overseas. I didn't keep them because I didn't feel like paying $10 for every GB I used(including overseas usage) vs the $78 I was paying for 15 GB with Verizon. Unfortunately, my daughters insist on having iPhones which prevent me from switching back to Project Fi even though they have unlimited data now with their "bill protection".

For the benefit of everyone that thinks when VZW posts about contacting you in a DM that they are doing something, I was contacted and asked for my phone # and pin code and never heard anything after that. I even replied again asking for an update to their promise to look into my account and no response. It seems they want to convince everyone they are being helpful, but not so much.

I am intrested in the BOGO deal but do not want to loose my phone number. If I switch to ATT I can get the same deal a little cheaper phone service and keep my phone number is there anyway to do this with verizon?
