I really hate asurian phone insurance!! Don't know why verizon uses them!! Any other options for phone insurance? I don't want a crappy refurbished phone in place of a phone that I spent big bucks on! When ever it's time for my upgrade , I always buy the latest and best phone in the store....after all I will have it for 2 years!!! But I really don't want this insurance!! Help!!

We definitely want to make sure you have a good working phone at all times. All providers go through Asurion insurance for replacements. We do however have other replacement options available if you need a new device. Check out our Certified pre-owned, http://vz.to/1zgGbD6?

There are other options, Upsie is an app you can install which will let you buy insurance (personally have not used) or you can use Squaretrade (I have personally used extensively and had really good experiences).

Squaretrade is the company that Costco uses for their extended warranties including cell phones.

I am sorry I didn't see this sooner - Asurian has been a nightmare over the past 36 hours - each non transparent step is met with another hurdle, poor messaging and a complete lack of clear instructions - We will get you an approval within 3 hours - after first filling out their form, three times because of some glitch in their system (twice online and finally with an agent) - then we need a copy of your drivers license and an affidavit - which includes the ie number - which in a nonworking phone has to be found (it only means taking out the sim card, but you have to figure that out) - then they will be back -email said within 3 hours - but alas no it was 12 hours - missing the deadline so that the replacement will be on monday - then after approval - it is go to find my phone and remove it - OK fine, but since it isn't working - I have to assume it is properly backed up....then it is  a call back because for some reason they can't verify that I deleted it - Then we need a credit card to charge you $199 for the replacement -  I'm almost 2 years into paying for this phone and had I known other options existed - I would not have dealt with Asurian - several years ago my wife lost her phone - the process through a Verizon store was much easier - I should have lost it.  Nevertheless, I am extremely frustrated with Asurian - so much so that if there were another phone company that did not use them - I really would switch today and I have been a Verizon customer for decades.   It really isn't about the cost, but it is about being held hostage to a process that is not clear what I would need to do, the costs and alternatives possible and whether they steps they force on you are the best for all circumstances.  There were other misstatements and hooks, but you have my point
