After 10 years about done with Verizon Wireless

To make a long story shoprt, I have 2-3 phone lines and spend 3,000-5000 dollars a year with Verizon and have done so for 10 years.

Verizon sent me a phone even they admit is Defective, and after just 15 days of use, they send me, without telling me, a USED, refurbished phone... that is Broken, as when you speak in it, no one can hear.

1)  They never informed me we would get a phone that was previously BROKEN to replace a 15 day old phone.

2)  They sent a DEFECTIVE Phone after Verizon refurbishment.

3)  They REFUSE to give a brand new phone to replace a 15 day old phone that they gave uis which was DEFECTIVE.

4)  The ORIGINAL DEFECTIVE PHONE cost me $60 in internet fees even though it was set for WiFi only by Verizon at their store.

Verizon apparently is run by former Enron people.

Do yourself a favor and get-off Verizon as soon as you can; before they do to you what they did to me, a 10 year customer spening 3-5 Thousand a Year with Verizon.  Do you spend that much with them?

Can anyone Recommend Another Carrier for me that would like my 3-5 Thousdand a year which has decent service?

I'm pretty much done with Verizon unless they give me a New Phone tomarrow when I visit their company store in Montclair. CA, accept any data charges after they "tune" thye phone controls, and give me a month free for (A) lying to me about receiving a fixed-defective phone  (B) Which was so defective after Verizon "fixed" it no one can talk on it.

To add to your woes, Verizon Wireless seems to be the most expensive carrier. I have been shopping around for family plans and it appears that Sprint has the most bang for your buck. That being said, I am not sure what you have available for carriers and coverage on the "Left Coast" as I am on the other side of the country.

I am like you, I have been with Verizon F_O_R_E_V_E_R so I am going to give them one last chance by including them in my comparison shopping. There are enough carriers out there that you would think one of them is willing to give good service for a justifiable cost.

I have also noticed that some carriers (T-Mobile, Sprint, MetroPCS) now have "pay as you go" plans which allow one to try out the service, perhaps before committing to a contract. That may also be worth giving a try.

Good luck!

im not exactly clear regarding what u wrote. r u saying that the original phone was defective and the replacement was also??? or r u saying that the replacement was defective, which they sent u after 15 days of use with your new phone??? if the latter is the case, then u need to keep in mind that the warranty period on new phones is 14 DAYS!!!, not 15...the reason i know this, is because the speaker went on my new razr maxx after 21 days and they sent me a "reconditioned" one, with a pro-rated warranty. as for the rest of your comment , in almost 2 years of dealing with verizon, i've had absolutely no problems and have always been treated corteously and kindly, whether online/phone or in person. good luck

Original Phone broke from Day 1.  Replacement phone broke from Day 1.

II paid for a New, Working Phone and I have yet to receive one so I do not care if they have 14 day policies, it is criminal fraud to change me for a refurbished phone when I paid for a working New phone and never received one.

Furthermore, they put insurance on the original phone without asking.  I removed the insurance.  They put insurance on the replacement phone without asking.

I spend well over 3 thousand a year with Verizon and have done so since 2002.

I deserve more than fraudently placing insurance on the phones without asking-- Twice.

I deserve more then being told the replacement phone is a New Phone (Fraud) and sending a unfixed used phone (Fraud number 4).

I deserve more than being told I have to pay for the insurance I never ordered (Fraud number 5)

I deserve more than a [person telling me they would call me on July 3 about the problem and never receing a call.

I went to their company store today and guess what... they reactivated the original phone that they say is defective as it incorrectly charges me for data when I use Wi-Fi only.  Thus, more Hours screwing around with Verizon in the next couple days.

From January 2011 to January/Febuary 2012 I went through 13(yes 13) phones with verizon--2 models of android phones and was finally able to get a iphone 4.  I had to pay for 3 of the phones and extend my contract twice which I was not happy about.  Yes verizon tells you they are sending you a new phone but inactuality it is a refurbished one and I got10  that didn't work and still had to pay my bill. Some people never have a problem with verizon but I had about enough!  To add to that they dropped my sisters insurance when she got a replacement, my tablet doesn't work right and they tried to tell me to send it back after I paid or it --they were not going to refund me!

Yep,

I paid for a brand new phone that works.

But never received one.

From day one I was in Verizon owned stores and on the phone with them, all the time assuring me "they have it under control and it will be fixed".

2 Weeks passes and suddenly Verizon decides the new phone is Defective.

Without ever telling me, they send me a "refurbished phone".

And guess what, the Refurbished phone does not work!!!!!!!!!!!    Well, you can hear people talking but they can't hear you.

Verizon did not fix the problem in the first 2 weeks as they promised they would.

Then, without informing me, they send a "fixed" used phone to replacethe never working new phone I paid for-- and no one can hear me speak!

I have yet to receive the brand new working phone I paid for.

To add insult to injury, they added insurance without my authorization for the brand new phone.  When I discovered it, I stopped it but they demanded to have me pay for it and the unpaid balance is still on my bill.

Then to punch the injury to make it hurt more, they without my authoruization added insurance onto the piece of Cr*p broken phone replacement they sent me.

Hi,

Not only does the phone not work, they want me to drive over to their local store and have the sim replaced.  Just bought the phone a month ago.

Furthermore, even though the phone can not receive or make calls, Verizon states that after the past 7 hours with the new phone number, we have made .001 gig in data on their system even though the phone is set to wi-fi only.  Verizon also shows 213 minutes used in the past 7 hours.

Pretty Weird.

Went into a company owned store today and they tell me there is no insurance on the phone when I paid the insurance for the 2nd month yesterday.

Bought a 4g phone n late may.

Phone always bills me for internet even though the phone was set by Verizon employees at qa Verizon store to only get Wi Fi.

Verizon also put insurance at 6.99 a month without asking

Last month received a $60 additional bill for using their system for internet when their own employees set the phone only for wi-fi.

Finally they determined the new phone I bought was broken so they sent me a refurbished phone even though I paid for a new working phone.  The refurbished phone could hear people but no one could hear us talk on it.

I have yet to get a NEW working phone which I paid for.

I sent back the junk "Certified" refurbished phone after visiting, for the 3rd time, the local Verizon-owned store as the Verizon employees now state the original phone is perfect.

But it still charges me for internet via Verizon when set to only get internet via wi-fi.

Meanwhile we decide to change the phone number of this phone because of harrassing calls from a former boyfriend.  Big Mistake.  The phone would not work after the phone number change.  No incomming, no outgoing, no texts.  24 hours goes by while Verizon scratches their head.

Another (4th) trip to the companoy owned store where I am informed no insurance is on the broken original "New" phone even though I paid for the insurance for the 2n'd month the day before.  They demand I pay for the new sim chip so the new phone number will work.  Remember, I never even asked for the insurance and was never told about it but I still paid for it $6.99 times two months and we are at just 5 weeks after receiving the broken "New" phone Verizon sold me as a new working phone.

I hope potential Verizon customers read this.  It is a part time job dealing with Verizon selling broken new phones to you which steal from you by billing you for all internet use even when the Verizon company owned store employee sets the phone to only get internet via Wi Fi.  Then they bill you for insurance you never asked for and when you need it, they say you have No Insurance.  Change your telephone number means a 30 minute wait after you drive to their store and they charge you for a new chip to allow the new phone number even if you paid for your insurance.

Can you tell me what plan(s) you are on where it would cost you $3k-$5k a year for 2-3 phone lines (Are you not sure how many you have?), and you still get charged $60 for internet usage even though you said the phones were set to use wifi only?

If you purchased a 4G phone that would mean it was a smartphone.  Smartphones require a smartphone data plan on that line. It doesn't matter if you set it up to use WiFi only.  Also you started this conversation in the Basic Phone space of the community.  So when I read your post originally, I thought your had some issues with a basic phone.  Now you mention have a 4G phone.  Which is it?  Please clear up your story because it makes no sense whatsoever.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

In the words of John McClane from 'Die Hard', "Welcome to the party, pal." I share a plan with my Aunt, whom has been a Verizon Wireless customer since 1994. I've been on the account for 8 or 9 years now. I've had several issues with Verizon over that period of time. Most of the time these issues seem to pop up when it's time to upgrade my device. Like 4 years ago they had to send me three LG Chocolate 3 phones because all of them had a defective Micro-SD cover that kept popping open. Not really Verizon's fault, but they certainly didn't make it any easier on me with the constant attitude that they were doing me the favor of replacing the defective device they sent me in the first place. Eventually after the third phone had the same problem they agreed to let me switch phones, so I got a Motorola flip phone which ended up lasting me 2 years. The only reason I replaced that was because the charger port went after normal wear and tear over the 2 years of use. Let's not forget about the time Verizon tried to charge me $4,300 for going over my data limitations, when at the time I had no data plan to begin with. Long story short, I purchased a "subscription" to a feature that claimed to be $2.99 per month. However, it didn't say anything about data fees not being included, or the fact it used data at all. It was definitely a misunderstanding, and again, not completely Verizon's fault. After a few weeks of calls to various supervisors and a letter to corporate they finally agreed to waive the fees. They were supposed to waive it all, but ended up charging me $1,200, which I paid because I too shared some responsibility in the matter. They did tell me they would waive it all. Didn't happen, so I bit the bullet and moved on. Let's fast forward to 2 months ago. I'm currently waiting for Verizon to send me another Samsung Galaxy S3 which they said they would do as soon as they became available again. Still waiting. The first one had scratches on the back of the cover when it arrived to me and the box that it came in looked like it had been through World War 3. Strange for a phone, that at the time, was on pre-order and had been sent directly to me when Verizon received it into their warehouse. I've had other issues that I could go on and on about, and right about now I'm wondering why I even bothered to renew my contract for another two years. Poor call on my part I guess. Verizon has lied to me on several different occasions to avoid giving me something they didn't want to give me. Like when I needed to exchange a phone and the rep told me the 14 day exchange policy has been in place "forever", when clearly it's a policy that has been introduced sometime over the past 2 years, and is probably new to people now upgrading their devices. I called them on that one and they admitted it's relatively new, and therefore had to reluctantly help me. It's no mistake that Verizon continues to be consistently criticized for their customer service woes. I've never seen a company that uses their Terms & Agreements as a way to get out of helping the customer when problems arise like Verizon does, and continues to. It's too bad. I guess the one positive they have going for them is their selection of phones, and the network. Though I've recently found that AT&T seems to get better service where I live. I guess I have to suck it up for another two years, or buy my contract out and switch carriers. I refuse to give Verizon $340, based solely on principal, to cancel my line. So for now I'm still with Verizon. But I might not be for long. The other person that I share the account with has seen the issues I've had and has agreed to leave Verizon with me should I decide to do so. And she's been with them since '94. Though, I doubt Verizon would really care. The only thing Verizon appears to be good at is cashing the check that I send them every month.
