People don't like change either.  Also seems like most have responded without actually having an understanding for exactly what June 28th means.

Well, if everybody that claims they are going to leave, leaves, then those of us that remain will need it.

  True... Didn't think of that...

I made sure I called and talked to multiple CSR's about the change, and how it affects me and my family. Each rep (I think I called either 3 or 4 times), gave me the same exact answers to each question.

But there is a way to keep the unlimited data plan, by buying the device without a subsidy.  I heard (and agree, to an extent) the arguments about having to pay full retail for the cell phone.  However, the option is still there; VZW hasn't killed unlimited data for all grandfathered users.  Now each customer will have to evaluate how important unlimited data is to him/her.  The value comes not in the dollars spent or saved, but how important it is to the customer.  VZW knew this when they made this decision.  Most people have emotional rather than logical attachments to their cellular service.

the problem is this: under the T-mobile and world model the plan's should cost less if the hones aren't subsidized and not more or the same.

2nd: because Verizon uses CDMA instead of GSM (or the other way - can't remember) and everyone's LTE networks will be on different wavelengths - meaning different network chips... you are at V's mercy as to what full retail means. On other carriers you have competing outlets to get a phone and then pop in your sim card. Verizon has designed a system where you can only pay full retail from their stores and therefor the price of phones will remain artificially high and start higher so they can take their cut of the action.

Some examples of plans that will save money by switching:

current: 1400 Talk & Text, 2 smartphones.  $120 for the calling plan, $60 for data (2gb apiece), $180 total

new: unlimited talk & text, 2 smartphones, 4gb of data shared: $70 for data, $80 for the phones, $150 total

current: 2000 Talk, 2 smartphones, $10 1000msg on one phone, $60 data: $160 total

new: unlimited talk & text on both phones, 4gb of data shared: $70 for data, $80 for the phones: $150 total

current: 2000 Talk and Text, 2 smartphones, 2 basic, and a mifi on the 5gb plan: 150 for the plan, $60 for smartphone data, $50 for mifi: $260/month
new: unlimited talk and text, 10gb data: $100 + $80 for smartphones + $60 for basic phones + $20 for mifi: $260/month (1gb more data, and it's shared across all lines so if one line uses more, the unused data of other lines can be applied to the one that uses more, also unlimited minutes).

final example: 5 line unlimited Talk & Text plan, ZERO smartphones

current: $50 account charge, $250 line charges, total $300
new: $40 account charge (includes 300MB of data), $30x5 phones: total $190

So yeah, just showing that there *are* plan setups, real-world plan setups, that stand to either save money or gain features with no additional cost. Yes, the new plans suck for people on unlimited data, people on 700 minute plans, people with only a couple data devices and several basic phones, and people with hefty employee discounts. But they don't suck for everyone. Isn't that what this topic is about?

Agreed.. And to me, it is worth $25 a month for 2 years extra so I have the $600 for a new phone every 2 years...

How are you at Verizon's mercy? You dont have to buy from Verizon's store.

My phone was bought from Apple, my androids were bought from Amazon/ebay. Never went through Verizon.

Well, thank you all for constructive posts!

I have enjoyed seeing both sides of the coins and agree with everyone's concerns to a degree.

I am wrapping up my side of things, as with the weekend I probably will not be visiting much, and the post may get buried .

I am still one sided on the single subscribers though, as I dont see them removing the tiered data for individual plans at this time. So i do not believe, until proof is shown, that a single user will have to go to a share plan. Just because a single user has nothing to share. It would make no sense for their plan to be called a share everything plan. If they wanted to add a tablet or something to their account I could see it being changed then though.

What I am curious about, was not really answered, and may never truly be answered.

Is the upset over the word unlimited? The word shared??

What I expect has happened, is Verizon's analysts have taken their company as a whole, and did research on what customers data usage looks like. And from there, they did averages. That is how I believe the plans came about. So the fear of overages may or may not even happen. People may not even know what they use, because they have unlimited and don't even bother to check, when in fact they use less that 1 - 2 gb. I would say heavy users that use 10 Gb are in the 5 - 15% range of customers. With most of them being enterprise/business. Since not everyone is going to be forced in to these plans on June 28, I would suggest monitoring and plan ahead. Take a bit for the plan to settle in. (They may even double data shortly after like they did with the tiered, when they changed 2gb for 30$ to 4gb.)

Am I saying to shut up and take it? Not at all, rattle cages, and do what you can. In reality if your voice is heard strong and they do lower prices or double data, it benefits everyone, me included. But for all the posts are are just rage and I am leaving posts, this will not get a great reaction. I feel this post has a lot of constructive points, and weighs both Pros and Cons. This is what I hoped to achieve with this post.

I believe Verizon will get it right, they may burn some people first, but unfortunately that is a common trend in many businesses these days.

Good luck to everyone!

It depends on the voice/text plan.

The Share Everything plan would drop me down from $20-$40. I currently pay $129.99 a month. I go through heavy minutes and text so need as much as I can get. Because I travel 1 week out of every month, I need the hotspot feature and in order to have that, I'm paying for a data amount that's way more than I need.

With the new plan and it's unlimited minutes and text, even keeping a 4GB data plan will save me $20. If I drop it down to 2GB, or even 1GB, that's $30 or $40 saved.

I came in too late for any grandfathering so I can't say how I'd feel to be losing it. At this point, my concern is my check book and any thing that will save me money works for me.
