I am so totally discusted by the charges that these  companies force on us. Yes, I understand you are geting a phone on loan and that companies have to recoup their dollars by forcing customers into these 2 year plans. But what the H***!! Restocking fees and upgrade fees!!!??? We customers need to start the kind of petition that forced BofA to drop it's checking fees. It is time to fight back. In today's economy, $30.00 here and $30.00 there is virtually killing the individual consumer.  MULTIPLY these fees by the millions of telephone customers who are forced to pay them, and you'll see why the executives and yes men (women) in these companies are able to afford their mega mansions and 3-4 $250,000 automobiles. Enough is enough. I am mad and I can't take it anymore!!!!!!

I just added an iphone 4S 16GB and upgraded my droid to a 4S 32GB. I was surprised when checking out I had to pay an upgrade charge. Thinking about a change.

Verizon.  Netflix? Bank of America?  Good grief!

Had a mishap with one of our family phones (we have 4).  Three of our 4 phones are eligible for a 'free' upgrade.  As of April 26th, Verizon now charges a $30 upgrade fee to get the 'free' upgrade.

Someone please explain to me any reason at all that I shouldn't go to another carrier and get a free phone to replace the damaged one?  If I were NOT a Verizon customer, I could also get a free phone for signing up - and one that is a much grander piece of equipment than the 'free'-$30-options I have now.

In what board room are these decisions made?

I was so ticked off when I got my bill and saw the $30 upgrade charge that if the store had been open I'd of returned the phone.  I never would have bought it if I had known Verizon was going to charge me for the privilege of replacing an old phone that was being held together with tie wraps.  I spoke to "customer service" who assured me they felt my pain but there was nothing they could do.   She also proudly informed me that the Verizon charge, as outrageous as it might be, was less than what the other phone companies charge.  When did being less offensive than someone else become justification for being offensive?  The "customer service" person did say I could get a refund if I returned the phone, but the store said there's a $35 charge for returning the phone if I don't buy another one, and I obviously wouldn't be buying another one.  Besides, I suspect the "upgrade" charge refund would get lost in big company accounts payable hell.

I've calmed down a lot since the night I saw my bill, and will be keeping the phone, but I plan to stop in and let the sales person know how unhappy I am with his service.  I'm also looking for ways to cut back on other Verizon services, such as network access for my home.  I was considering a data plan up until I got this month's bill, and that's not going to happen now.

It stinks to be slapped around by a big company like Verizon and know you have to take it because the other big guys are waiting in line to slap you around if you dump them.  Still, after being a loyal customer for so many years - I think it's a least 10 - it might be less aggravating to get abused by a new company with whom I hadn't shared a unilateral loyalty.  The only question is; am I angry enough to disrupt my daughter's phone service?  She's on my family plan, but maybe it's time for her to cut the cord so to speak.

Verizon, if you're listening, I don't need you to feel my pain, I need you to stop inflicting it.

I'm actually quite pleased with the upgrade fee... I went to a few of the wireless workshops and they were totally worth the upgrade fee! Not to mention everyone in the store was so polite and helpful! They even hooked me up with unlimited data even though I'm a brand new customer!

$30 upgrade fee for our "free" upgrade. What!!??? We have also been loyal Verizon customers for years.  Always bragging on Verizon customer service when people are complaining about their service.  Not anymore.  Now I will fall right in line with those complaining.  We have 5 lines and our bill is at least $250 a month. We upgraded 2 phones in January and now 2 in May.  When I questioned the 2 $30 charges on my bill, the rep, Teresa, explained the fee was to help them continue to provide customers with a level of service & support their customers have come to expect".  Umm I am pretty sure we already pay for that service. We pay for the new "equipment", we agree to the new 2 year contract, and we pay generously for our service but now they are charging a bogus fee and providing nothing new.  Thank you to the blogger who is directing everyone to "change.org".  I will certainly check it out.  I am thinking a class action suit should be arising in the near future.

This is just outrageous!!
