Is there a way to limit data usage on one line on my plan?  I have 5 phones on family account, would like to limit data usage on one line, a phone used by a teenager that continually incurs overages.

myrros, I can understand why you are looking to set limits. I have to do that with a line of service on my account as well. Good News! You can set up usage controls on your account. You can do with with our Family Base services. You can find the full details of this great feature by following this link: http://spr.ly/65854Yjl base product:Top  I hope this is helpful information.

So to clarify, I have to pay 4.99/mo for this service to limit the data?

Yes, if you want Verizon to limit it for you, there is a charge.

Of course there is no charge if you want to limit it yourself. If the teenager is unable to control their data usage, simply take the phone away from them once they have used the amount of data you seem appropriate. After a few months being without a phone, possibly they will see a way they can control their own data usage.

This is how I limited the data usage on my own teenager's lines without a fee. Of course, simply the threat of losing their phone(and/or paying for overages) kept their data usage numbers down to within my chosen monthly data allowance.

If you have a Samsung look at this:  https://videotron.tmtx.ca/en/topic/samsung_galaxys10/setting_a_mobile_data_usage_limit.html#step=1

You can set limits on the phones individually, with parent controls in place.  I wouldn't pay the fee
