is there a rate fee if i text message or call someone from a different state?
i live in illinois and my friend lives in texas, and i wanted to know if i'll get charged if i text/call him. please help!

It is all according to what plan you are on. I do not believe Verizon offers Local plans like Alltel did/does. But the texting will be based on what text plan you have.

For text messages, long distance should already be included. Basically you should be able to send text messages any where in the U.S. at no extra cost. It's called domestic messaging. For calls, long distance should be included in your plan (it would be domestic calling). Log into your online account. Look at your plan details. See what is included.
