Just got my bill for this month and there was was a lot of data on it. even though I increase the mb and the plan still it was over so I saw my daughter who told me all she did was download songs from P2P site and put it on her sd card. Would this increase my data usauge and could someone tell me what the letter HNDST stand for under the data minutes? This data crap is driving me crazy
thank you but she downloads the songs to our personal computer then puts them on her sd card. I can see direct download using the web from her phone but this is from the pc. Is this like if you take a cd and put songs on your phone you get charge for doing the dl. if so this is a rip off. thanks again let me know.
thanks for the response. My plan is the Nationwide Family share basic plan. The only thing I upgraded was the data package. she has unlimited m2m ands other free studff. she did dl 2 ringtones and did not surf the web. I check the times on the data and she was listening to music at her ffriends and off the bus. I enclosed a partial paste of the data this might help u. otherwise I might have to call verizon about it.

Those charges are overage charges at $.50/MB and it rounds up to the nearest megabyte. the charges could be from browsing the web(most likely)
if she downloaded the 2 ringtones right from her device, you would have seen the charges for the ringtones on your bill and the MB usage of the downloads.
I would still try calling into customer support to see what phone they came from, and if they can provide other information. I would stay away from putting a block on the phone as that would limit pix and flix and messaging capabilities, but there might be other options to block browsing if that is what is eating up the MB's.
I talked to my daughter about the rigtones and it showed on another line that she bought 2 ringtones but she absolutely certain that she didn't web browse because it cost to do it. and with closer inspection of the times she coming her bus listening to music with earphones. I will have to call verizon about this. thanks for the help
I just learned a hard lesson about how Verizon charges for pix messaging. I have an old plan (never payed much attention to it because it WAS working fine) America choice with pix/text messaging plan. I'm not sure how it works with the national plan (still waiting for a reply because they talked to fast on the phone) but for PIX messaging you get charged air time for everyone you send/receive. I'm trying to figure out if I have to pay for MB use if switching to the national plan (which I'm guessing you do) and if you are like me and receive a ton of pix messages that might be the reason. I'm still looking for the fine print that explains that after I pay for pix service that I still will be using airtime to receive and send them but it must be there somewhere. After a bunch of emails and trying to call the computer at verizon my mother called in and finally got a person to talk to. They didn't sound to happy when she said her phone was fine and she was calling for me. While trying to figure out my charges on the bill my service was shut off and inorder to talk to a live person you cannot owe them any money. Awesome customer service they don't return emails and will not let you talk to a person if you have problems.
Anyways might be something to check into as I'm still waiting for an answer which I'm sure I will not get in any timely manner.

I send and receive picutres in texts all the time to verizon and non verizon people and I am not charged air time. We have the nationwide calling plan with unlimited texts and picutres. I can even text to and from my e-mail and it's not data since it's under texting. If you are sending and receiving through e-mail then that would incur data charges if you don't have some type of data plan but we have data blocked on our phones so I have no clue how the e-mail thing works. Also if she is getting music from illegal P2P sites make sure you have very good up to date virus and firewall on your computer as that is one sure way to catch one and mess up the computer good. Have had to straighten out a few computers latey of friends that were doing this and one I couldn't even handle it, was so beyond my skills so she had to pay a good amount for a shop to fix it. Mary
