Hi my dad completely blocked texting, so I was wondering if he unblocked it can I text other people on verizon for free, and i have the basic plan.

Unfortunately, if you are on the basic plan with no text package, it would still cost you .20 per send/recieved.  Even for other verizon customers.

Thats unfortunately not an option. You will have to get a texting bundle that supports unlimited texting to verizon customers to do so.
