Received Text Messages delayed

Receiving text messages that have been delayed sometimes 3 or 4 hours after they were sent.   After receiving call, might get 6 messages in a row that have been delayed.  Also, calls sometimes go directly to voicemail when not on phone.

Any ideas on what to do?

Step 1: Remove the battery from the phone while the phone is on.
Step 2: Wait 20 seconds and turn phone back on.
Step 3. Dial *228 option 1 on the phone
Step 4: Test see if work.

Let me know if that works

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEM offering up that macro is NOT COOL all the time, and does not help the end user. Read this thread to educate yourself about *228! hammer.gif->

Read the following posts that I created. I have suffered from this problem for over a year and conclude that it is solely the phone!

Carm I disagree with you on this point. I have seen this exact thing fix the problem many many times. You are the exteption to the norm. You take care of your equitment. You keep your stuff uptodate. You are knowlegble. The average person buys a phone and never after the orginal date update there phone. Have you ever seen a phone that hasnt been *228 in 3 years? Or even 3 months? I doubt it. Becuase you probably *228 yours every 30 days like yoru supposed to to keep it uptodate. *228 is a network thing not just your phone.

Again all the respect to you man you know your stuff. But this time your off base.

Again the views expressed in this post are my opion and no one elses.

Well, since I have been dealing with this problem for over a year with VZW, I would think I have some knowledge and experience with this problem. As I stated it didnt happen til I got a new phone as well, so I can put my old phone back online and NEVER have this happen again ......I think you might want to re-read those posts please in a little more detail.

Also, your statement does not make sense. IF someone who updates their roaming capabilities monthly HAS this problem for over a year now, why would *228 make a difference for someone's 3 yrs or 3 months out of date?

As I said I theorize from my knowledge and experience and the others who have had this problem, that it was some programming that was introduced into a lot of VZW's phones from a certain point on.

This is not a network related issue.

To the origional poster. You can use my trouble ticket as reference for you exact same problem: 2426112 it is  dated 8/2/2008.

Tell them you are experienceing the same problem.

Refering to this post at the orginal. If text is delayed, and the vm goes straigt to vm. I agree to the point that *228 doesnt always work. But this one may not be the same issue you are having or had. I will gracefully agree to disagree with you.

Ok, so lets think through this.

Why would you go straight to VM when calling someone's cell?

Line is busy. If no one on the phone immidate call foward could be setup.  Network issue.  Are the ones that come to mind.

Ok, all of those are valid, however what are the chances of those happening since as the network going down or something like that?

The ones that come to my mind are:

the phone is off, or out of the area.

In any case more simplistically the phone is not " seen " on the network. If the phone is not seen on the network, calls will be dumped into VM, and text/PIX messages will be received once the network does see them. ( in the case of a a call on the line text will come through ). text messages are time stampped at the switch level once recieved by the network, where as pix messages are time stampped via the phone once delivered.
