Phishing attempts

I'm seeing a couple of regular messages on my phone that I'd like to find a way to stop.  One is a person who seems convinced that I am "longhornsforlife08" and this person is very, very fond of "longhornsforlife08".  They are affirming their fondness every morning.  I suspect this may be coming from an IM client.  The only address origin associated with the message is "92466104".  Given that it's only eight digits, I can't block the address in my account's spam blocker.

The other message, possibly related to the first, is from "92466" and it notifies me that I am signed out of my Yahoo! Messenger.  It helpfully suggests that to sign back in I should "select reply and type in ID password".  I'm sure this has worked to provide Yahoo! IM credentials from many victims, thankfully not mine.  Again, given only five digits, I can't block this message as spam.

I'd appreciate any information I can get from you folks about dealing with this.

Thanks.

Do you use Yahoo IM (Mobile IM) on your phone?  Or Yahoo IM on your computer?  Log on to your account there and block all messages from the sender.  Within the message or Mobile IM itself, I think there is a way to ignore or block messages from the sender as well

If you don't have or use Mobile IM, then it's strange that your phone would log you out of an app that you never logged into.  If you do use Mobile IM, try resetting or reinstalling it to clear out the old info and hopefully the connection to the unwanted texter.

I do not use any IM on my phone and I can't remember the last time I logged into Yahoo! Messenger on my computer (must have been before Christmas, which was before I had the phone).  And again, all I have on the sender is "92466104".

I suspect it has nothing to do with IM -- I believe it's just some kind of phishing.  Of course, never having used IM on the phone I really wouldn't know how the phone network acctually responds to such things.  I also wonder if it has anything to do with the "longhornsforlife08" annoyance that I get daily. At any rate, I'd like to know if I can block it, have it blocked, or find the offending party and have them drawn and quartered.  :smileywink:

Thanks.
