How do I assign a name to a group in messages?

I tried to create an enhanced group and it created a new text thread for the participants. That's not what I want to do. I just want to name the original thread, to make it easier to know what group is texting. Is that possible?

You would not be able to name it without a new thread starting. This may be helpful for future group messages.

You will be required to create a new group. Unfortunately, the application does not allow you to rename a previous group.
