HOW TO DISABLE MOBILE INSTANT MESSAGING SUCH AS AIM

My son's phone has the text messaging "bundle" that allows 250 text mssgs/mo. for $5.00/mo. He exceeded that limit and we've been getting charged for each message over the 250.I do NOT want to change the plan to unlimited txt mssgs for$10.00 per month.

I have turned off txt messaging for his phone. However, he is using AIM now and these evidently are charged as text messages too! I want to disable his access to any mobile instant messaging service. I have just spent about an hour talking to a Verizon Customer Service Person. I also looked on the terribly complicated Verizon website. I find no way to do this! So, is my only option, WITHOUT SPENDING MORE MONEY, to take away his phone?

Add a data block to his phone and he wont be able to use AIM. best way is to add a national access block to his line, it blocks all data including picture messages.

But you could have said it better:

Instead of saying  Couldn't have said it better myself.

Ignorance is a disease.
Knowledge is the cure.
Education is the treatment.
Kudos!

You could have said - yes, dear hapless customer, and this is how you actually put a DATA BLOCK on your

phone.  That would have been really helpful.

{keep it relevant}

In other words: If you have the "cure" handy, then provide it !!

If you had any idea how absurdly complicated and unintuitive this Verizon website is to the

average customer, you would help them.

Buubye!

Now, if you would next time explain HOW one goes about adding a DATA BLOCK or NATIONAL ACCESS BLOCK

to a phone, then your message would actually be helpful to the questioner and to others.

Call Customer Service and ask for the National Data Block.  Or Go to MyVerizon, Overview Page, Self Service Options, Add and Remove Features - and block all web usage, premium texting, downloads,  and other stuff from there.
