Email alerts and sounds on Samsung Rogue
atyegrt
Newbie

I lke my new Rogue, for the most part.  But, one thing I have not been able to figure out has been bugging me since I got it.  I want the mobile email to just vibrate when a new message comes in or when I navigate through the email app, working with messages.  Every time I select a message to view or an action to do on a message (delete the message, forward it, etc.) the **bleep** thing beeps.  How can I turn this off????

Thanks,

Allan

Below I posted from page 105 of your user manual instructions on changing the Alert Sounds. I'm not sure if there is an option for just email messages, you may want the option for Multimedia Message. If this can be done at all, this is the only way I know to do it:

From the Home screen, touch MENU ➔
Settings & Tools ➔ 4. Sound Settings.
2. Touch 3. Alert Sounds. For the following options, you can
set the tone for the message alerts.
• TXT Message: Allows you to set a notification for TXT message.
• Multimedia Message: Allows you to set a notification for Picture-
Video message.
• Voicemail: Allows you to set a notification for Voicemail Message.
• Emergency Tone: Allows you to set the alert for emergency
dialing. The options for emergency tone are:
– Alert: Phone plays the Emergency Dialing tone except when the master
volume setting is Vibrate or All Sounds Off.
Note: If Emergency Tone is set to Alert and Master Volume is set to Vibrate,
the handset will vibrate after emergency dialing.
If Emergency Tone is set to Alert and the master Volume is set to All
Sounds Off, the handset will not sound after emergency dialing.
– Vibrate: phone will vibrate only and will not play the Emergency Dialing
tone.
Note: If Emergency Tone is set to Vibrate and Master Volume is set to All
Sounds Off, the handset will not sound after emergency dialing.
– Off: phone will not play the Emergency Dialing tone or vibrate.
• Missed Call: Allows you to set a notification for missed calls.
• Device Connect: Allows you to set a notification when you
connect to a device.
3.
4. Touch to make your selection and touch (in the upper
left corner) to return to the menu.

You  may want to try the other mobile email app offered by Verizon in the Media Center, Browse & Download, Email category.  It is called Vemail and it will vibrate by default when new messages come in.  It also has a tone option for Alerts.  Other than the usual mobile email features it has a very good Alerts service, lets you speak email and get most attachments, and has multiple color schemes so you can change its colors.  I prefer the "Alien" color scheme.  I also uploaded my computer address book via the vemail.com web site and use it as a filter for alerts.  Although this app has a very basic look, it packs in the features.
