Destination does not support enhanced messaging services

Ok so my GF just switched over to Verizon this morning and she picked up the Eris. I have a Droid and have been a verizon customer for years. We both have unlimited text and data. I am an add a line on the family plan and the entire plan has unlimited text and data and she has just her own line on her own plan. She can send me text messages well over 160+ characters and I receive them.  When I try to send her one I get the message "Message Delivered to (Number Here) as plain text Destination does not support enhanced messaging service" any message that goes over 160 character just gets cut off at the 160 and thats all she gets, it will not even send it as 2 messages. Any help here?

If its from verizon to verizon it should work, if its intracarrier it wont work. Enhanced messages are text messages with more than 160 characters long. Also the phone has to support the feature.

We are both verizon and she has the Eris and I have the Droid so I would assume both are capable.

You said she just switched over to VZW. She ported her number in from another service provider, correct? That might be the issue. Give it 48 to 72 hours for the intercarrier records to update. If that doesn't work, contact technical support from a different phone, have yours and your girlfriend's phones with you, at 800-922-0204 or *611 from a different VZW mobile.

I noticed this lately, myself.  My daughter and I both have the Droid ERIS - and I'm getting the following:

She sends me a long text - it is broken into 2 parts (don't know why) and then I get a 3rd message that says "Preceding msg modified, Media objects were removed)

I send her a long text - and I get a message from her as "Message Delivered to ,phone number. as plain text. Destination does not support enhanced messaging service

We haven't changed anything since we got the new phones in mid-Feb.

So, if someone from tech support could chime in, that would be great!

Neither the Droid nor Droid Eris supports enhanced messaging.

Recently as in Thursday March 11?  That's when my EMS messages began to fail each and every time.

And where does it say whether a device does or does not support EMS?  My samsung smooth supported it for MONTHS, literally hundreds of EMS style messages, now suddenly it does not?  Somebody is lying!

Neither the Droid nor the Droid Eris is enhanced messaging capable.  The only way the text that was more than 160 characters would have came through, is if the sender sent the message as a multimedia message(picture). When sending a message that contains more than 160 characters to a device that does not support EMS, the message will be broken into segments of 160 characters.  Unfortunately, I was unable to locate this on the website, if you would like further information regarding the capabilities of your device, please contact Tech Support at 1-800 Verizon.
