I have a co-worker who is from Puerto Rico (area code 787). Just wondering if I'll be charged more for texting back and forth and calling as well?

Actually, no. If you have unlimited calling and unlimited messaging on your plan, you will not be billed additional fees to call or text someone who has a Puerto Rican phone number. That is because Puerto Rican phone numbers are actually considered U.S. phone numbers, as far as Verizon Wireless is concerned.

Thank you for reaching out. We want to make sure that you can stay in touch with your co-worker. Calls and texts to Puerto Rico are part of your domestic calling plan. This means that you will not be charged when you call or text each other. Does this information help?

If Puerto Rico is considered US, why couldn’t we keep our 787 number when we switch from another carrier? I hated having to give up a number I’ve had since I was 18 just to get service with you guys
