We've heard back from our Verizon Messages developer team, dsplzion. They've identified the issue you're experiencing as related to an issue installing Microsoft updates. Here are the steps they've recommended.

1) Make sure all the windows updates are installed and are up-to-date. If not, please install all the Windows updates. Reboot your machine and try installing Message+ again. If the issue still persists, then go to step 2)

2) Please do not perform this step, if you are running Windows 8 or above. If you are running Windows 7,  download and install the "Fix MSI software update registration corruption issues" tool from Microsoft, from the link below:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/976982

Run the tool and follow the steps in the Fix it wizard.

Please keep us posted on this issue.

HI -

The desktop app link on the Product Page is broken. If you downloaded the app recently, this could be why it is not performing properly for you.

The update to the app will be available, I am told, on 9/7.  Please download the app at that time from this page.

http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/consumer/products/verizon-messages.html

If you prefer not to update and use the app, and want to uninstall,  please consult with an IT professional. The app should uninstall without issue, but since you are having an issue, you will need to consult with a friend/professional who can access your computer.

I hope this helps.

Thanks,

ALIE

Alie,

I just tried downloading the 'new' version and it's the same file as the previous version.  I tried to use it to uninstall and it gives me the same error. 0x80070643 - Fatal error during installation.

I don't need a friend to help me with my computer. I'm a 30+ year veteran IT guy.  Your software should uninstall itself properly and if it doesn't, Verizon should release an uninstaller for it that does.  I shouldn't have to hunt down every registry setting manually.  At the very least Verizon should release instructions on manually uninstalling it.

Please update me if/when the installer is updated and i'll try it again.

Thank you for replying to my message.

Eric

You've got vast experience working with computers, dspizion. We want our desktop version of the product working flawlessly, and are disappointed to hear that it's not allowing you to install it. Let's find a work around. What were you looking to use the desktop appllication for?

That's an odd question. Is there more than one use for it?

HI dsplzion,

Please supply your answers to the below questions from the developers:

1) Which operating system version is he is running on ?

2) Which version of Message+ is he trying to uninstall ?

3) What is the error message he gets when he tries to uninstall ? Screenshots would be very helpful.

Thanks,

ALIEM
