Can't text one of my contacts

I have text one of my contacts several times in the past. For some reason when I try to text it now it says "You are no longer a participant of this conversation." The only thing is that I am not trying to text multiple people, only one person. I have deleted every conversation with that contact in it and when i try to start a new text it gives me the same message and won't let me send anything. It seems like it is still trying to do some sort of group text with me and them in it but I am just trying to send a standard text message. How can I fix this issue?

Also it is just one specific contact, I can text anyone else just not one certain one. I tried deleting the contact and re-adding it and same issue.

Staying connected is certainly important. We are here to help! To ensure we are aligned, we do have a few questions. When did this issue begin? What has changed with your phone? (setting changes, software update, etc.) who is the service provider for the specific contact you are having issues sending a text to?
