I am considering upgrading my ancient Verizon LG phone to an Iphone with AT&T. I have some texts stored on my old LG that I do not want to give up for personal reasons. I haven't had any luck transferring them to my computer but it would be enough just to have the old phone and to be able to turn it on and look at the old messages. I just want to make sure that I should still be able to view my old texts on my old LG phone even when my Verizon service has been discontinued. Are the messages stored on the phone itself or are they part of the "service"? I've asked friends and got conflicting opinions- no one seems to know for sure.
They will stay on the phone until you delete them--lock them if you want to be sure not to accidentally erase them. You can also forward them to your email address; only the message text will get forwarded (no date, timestamp, or phone number information will be forwarded). But you can then save the email with the text of the message.
