also if i text to people that are verizon customers. do i have to pay or just count in the 250 messages?

On that plan, ALL messages count. Incoming, outgoing, and even mobile2mobile. Make sure you're counting them all when figuring your total. You can also use #DATA to see your usage.

You received a letter from Verizon Wireless about overage that occurred in October? What did this letter ask you to do? Did VZW state that you would be billed for this usage back from October? Did you just now get this letter? Billing for delayed messaging usage is something I've never heard of. Sorry for all the questions but I've never heard of this.

i checked my usage..and im sure i never exceed more than 250
the letter said
''We recently reviewed your account and found that you've gone 50 messages or more over the 250 Text Messaging limit on your plan in the month of October. That's means you're paying at least $10 a month and would likely benefit by signing up for a new Text Messageing package that offers more messages for the same price.
but now is december.. and i paid the october bill long time ago...
can someone tell me what should i do with this letter?

Okay, well it would have been more helpful if this letter were more timely. This letter is targeted to customers who have exceeded or are trending to exceed their messaging/voice plans. You will not be billed for more usage in October. If you monitor your usage periodically using #DATA or My Verizon, then you should be okay.

Question. Now that two of the people on our family plan are getting comfortable with how to compose and send a text message, we're thinking that sometimes this could be a pretty convenient way for us to stay in touch with each other.
When you add on the $ 5 text message plan, does it apply to everyone on the family plan ? Or, in our scenario, does the $ 5 text plan have to be added individually on the family plan ?
I feel like we're stuck between a rock and a hard place. We're starting to send on average $ 5 's worth of text messages each month. But two $ 5 text message plans would be overkill for the amount of text messages that we send to each other.
And I looked just now at the calling+text plan. For 3 lines, our family loyalty plan is $ 69.99. By comparison, the basic calling+text plan for two plan is $ 99.99 uugghhh

Each phone on your family plan needs a text plan if you plan on texting. If you have a $5 text plan on your phone, then you are the only one that can text 250 texts, the others are getting charged for each text. My husband and I are in a family plan, but I only have the $10 text plan and he doesn't. He hardly ever texts and I text like a mad woman. HTH!

You will have to see if it's worth the individual plans on each line, counting texts....monitoring usage....we did that for several months and then I just gave it up and got unlimited for all of us. Once you start, and friends find out you have text, and you start texting....well, it snowballs and unlimited is just the best way - no worries about overages, no counting texts.....
