I backed up my phone today to the Verizon Cloud and now my phone has my contacts and my husband's contacts. How do I get rid of his contacts off of my phone without having to go one by one? And, how do we prevent this from happening again?

Yes, one account but you can have more than one user. Have your husband start here: Registration - Verizon Cloud
You should both have separate clouds. Each has a phone and separate line. This will prevent this issue. Don't use the same cloud.
