how do I transfer music from my pc to my phone without paying $9.95 for Vcast? I tried the free rhapsody download, did not see transfer option. also tried one free app, it didn't work either. The Vcast music download said it wouldn't install on my computer because not 32bit OS. My computer is vista, HP, less than two years old. whats up with that? can anyone help me? I would like to put music and pictures on my phone without paying additional $$$.

Thanks in advance, dwp

The easiest way to do this is going to be Drag & Drop. As long as you have the cable included with your phone this will be very simple. The instructions to do this are listed below:

  • Plug your phone up to the computer
  • Open to view files
  • Drag from computer to microSD card
  • Once loaded remove phone
Once you have done this the music and photos will be available on your phone.

I have provided some information below that may be helpful in transferring files from the PC to your mobile device.

Step 1. Enable Mass Storage mode. I have provided an article below for instructions.

http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=35463

I have also provided the written instructions below as well:

***Requires a memory card, and a USB cable (tethered to the computer).

Transferring files using the Mass Storage USB setting

1. From the Home screen, touch Menu > Settings > USB
Settings > USB Mode, then select Mass Storage.

2. Attach your phone to the computer with a USB cable. Your
Phone recognizes the connection and displays USB
Connected In the Annunciator Line and Notifications Panel.

3. Display the Notifications Panel, then touch USB connected.
At the prompt, touch Mount to enable copying of files
between your computer and the memory card.

4. At the prompt on the computer, select a transfer method:

Open device to view files using Windows Explorer. Drag and drop
files from the PC to the memory card installed in your phone. *Recommended if you don’t want a media manager, and a quick an easy way to transfer files to the device.

5. Transfer music files to the memory card. When finished,
you can disconnect the USB cable.

I hope this helps.

I am having the exact same problem. I've been told by separate folk at Verizon that A) it's Samsung's fault (I have a Fascinate) or B) I have to pay for the Media Manager service because Verizon holds all songs on its servers, and until I do, Media Manager won't recognize my phone when it's plugged into my computer.

Here's the deal: I don't want to buy songs from Verizon and its music site. I have existing songs on my computer that I want to transfer to my Samsung Fascinate. When I first bought the phone, in September, all I had to do was hook the phone up by USB and drag and drop and voila!

But NOW, with the advent of Verizon's Music Manager service, my computer won't even recognize my phone as a device.

So I downloaded Media Manager and installed it correctly. I even uninstalled it and re-installed it with a Verizon tech on the line.

My computer now recognizes my Fascinate for about 15 seconds, and then just as I'm about to drag and drop songs in Media Manager, the Fascinate disappears both from Media Manager and from the My Computer window. (I'm running Vista on a 64-bit machine).

Anyone have any idea how to help?

Thanks!

be sure you have the samsung drivers installed

if your phon is in usb debuggin mode, turn it off, if its off try it on

(settings>applications>development>usb debugging)

my phone has to have debugging on

when you connect the phone be sure to mount it

then just copy the music to wher eyou want it

i use

sdcard/media/music

no problems

I have Windows 7 and have the newest DL09 update. I just use sync  and not mas storage with Windows Media Player. I keep WMAs and MP3s music files there. With new new Samsung update it did put a driver update on my computer. I just use the sync with WMP and drag and drop the music I want to transfer. Before the update it was a bit glitchy and sometimes did not recognise my Fascinate phone. You can use mass storage also if you don't use WMP. This should work on Vista too. I don't use the Verizon Vcast or media player. I just use the music player on the phone.

I have also just un-mounted the Micro-SD card from the phone, pulled it out, put it in an adapter, and then put it into my computer, copied the files over, and then mounted it back in the phone..
