screen time while on map and navigation

Morning all.

I am new to the android phones.  I have the screen to time out at 30 seconds, but always on when plugged into a charger.

So how do I keep if from timing out after 30 seconds while in naviation or map mode? Other than manually changing the time out time each time I use either of those?  That would be a pain.

Also, this times out when I'm on a phone call too.  Is that norman?

What do most of you have your time out set to, that works best?

Thanks,

Having the screen timeout set to 30 seconds gives you hardly any time to do anything.  I have my timeout set for two minutes.

It doesn't time out when you are on a call.  The screen goes blank when you put it against your face so you won't accidentally hit the screen.  As soon as you move the phone away from your face, it comes back on.

The screen shouldn't turn off while Google Navigation is running and giving directions. It may dim, but never fully turn off.

The screen will turn off if you are running Google maps and you don't touch it within the specified timeout period.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I found a couple of apps that will work for the time out issues.

Screen timeout, which is a simple toggle that toggles back and forth to 'never' back to what every you have your time out set to.  And KeepScreen, which lets you specify apps that you want to keep on never while you work them.

I like them both!  Got the from the Market place.
