car dock with 3 pin connector

I am holding off on purchasing the Galaxy nexus because I want it for the car dock that utilizes the 3 pin connectos on the phone for a wires free/hassle free car dock.  This is currently available for the European Galaxy nexus, and was wondering if/when this will be available for the verizon version?

Here is a link to the dock in question

Thanks in advance.

No it will not.  The US versions will not have the pogos.

The only thing the US version will have the pogo is the desk dock.

There is a slight difference between where the pogos sit so the European version will not work

The desktop dock is the only accessory that will offer the pogo connection?  Just curious...

a) how you know this

b) whether it is Verizon's stupidity or Samsung's that this would be the case

Samsung USA is who you need to talk to.  There's already reviews on all the accessories that the LTE Galaxy Nexus has released.

The only "authentic" accessory that the US version will have is the desk dock.  The Multimedia, and car dock will not use the pogo.

I have a work around if you have a Droid X car dock. It can be made to work with the Galaxy Nexus pretty quickly.

  1. Remove the inner liner - there are a couple of snaps at the top just below the top latch. Unsnap them and remove the liner.
  2. Remove the USB connection - Remove the 4 screws in the back, do not discard. You will need them in a minute. There are a couple of snaps at the top and carefully pry the inside bottom up on both sides. It should come up without too much trouble. Once it comes up, you will be able to see both USB connectors and the wiring between them.
  3. Remove the wiring and USB connectors. Be causeful not to turn the dock upside down as the latch at the top will be able to come off.
  4. Reverse and put the inside cover back on. Put the screws back in, tighten them down, but do not overtighten them.
  5. At this point, the Galaxy Nexus will fit. It is not a form fit, but with the top latch, it will be secure. If you want to take a dremel tool out to adjust the inside cover so the phone will fit better, that is all you will need.

Depending on how you put the phone in, the power button or the volume rocker will be at the top and accessible. You will have to connect the power to the phone directly, but this is no different than the $40 dock that you get from Verizon. At least, you are not spending $40, and you will have a car dock that will work until Samsung releases the correct dock to use the Pogo pins.

Not a perfect solution, but at least you can connect the power and sound plugs in before you put the phone in the dock and it is not a blind connection.

Yes I have done this with my old Droid X car dock. It works just fine. I have not modified the dock to fit the phone better.
