Actually they didn't.  It was still in the system until June 28 of this year.  This is why when you upgrade they force you into the new plans(either tiered or share everything)  If they got rid of it then then last year people wouldn't be grandfathered in this year when upgrading.

A little nit-picking to me!  I could equally ask  "If they got rid of it June 28, how come I still have it?"

I think there are (at least) three dates:

1) Whenever in 2011: Unlimited data is no longer an option for new users, existing users are grandfathered

2) June 28, 2012: Unlimited data is no longer available with subsidized upgrades, can BYOD or pay full retail

3) TBD: Unlimited data is no longer an option for anyone.

I want to say July 7, 2011 was the end of unlimited for new customers, but I'm not positive and haven't researched it fully. I do know it was July 2011 for sure.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Because you signed a contract for a specific time so the plan wont change until you sign another contract that has the new policies and rates.

The unlimited plans worked on a grandfathered policy but about a year ago this was changed in the new contract, so when you agree to the new contract policies and prices you will loose the unlimited date on upgrade.

Well, you cut out most of my text there, I was just arguing with Tidbits correction of another poster, really as to the meaning of "in the system"   (available to new contracts, available to grandfathered, not available)....

Again they removed it from the system this year. Once you remove the unlimited data plan you can't get it back. Last year if you lost it you could get it back because it was still in the system.

3) TBD is easy. Since June 28th 2012 was the last day anyone could upgrade and keep unlimited and upgrading start a new 2 year contract then on June 29th 2014 there will be ZERO customers that are on contract and have unlimited. Thus Verizon will be free to get rid of unlimited at the time since all unlimited customers will be on month to month status. So I suspect in July 2014 you'll see Verizon ending unlimited. I also suspect that is when you'll see some kind of major shift in data pricing.

I'm guessing if enough people leave the them, they will basically be forced to revert to unlimited data.

We'll see Verizon started this right before the start of the second quarter which just ended on Sept 30th. So we will see what the churn numbers are for Verizon when they release the quarterly report next Thursday.

And we will look again in 6 months.

Yes because you're already scared you are going to be proven wrong next week. And in 6 months you will be proven wrong then. Exactly why are you a Verizon customer if you hate them so much?

I can tell you what I won't EVER do....and that is pay for a cell phone that I have to worry about using.

Ive noticed that all of your posts, or comments, are always negative, and borderline irritating. If you have beef withVerizon, no matter the issue, why are you here?

No they're not. Some are and some aren't, so for you to say they all are is absolutely not true. Take for example the collection agency and fico score post. I would say that was an informative post. Or do you not think that a person's fico score has a direct effect on the interest rate a person pays? Take for example cell phone carriers....if your credit score is low, they will never let you walk out the door with a subsidized phone. Or try getting a credit card with a low fico score, etc.

To answer your last question, I'm here for the same reason you are here....because we are both verizon customers at the moment.

I doubt you will see the same numbers in 6 months but only time will tell. I can say this...it was a very good move on verizon's part to give all share everything plans unlimited text messages for alerts.

There is no charge for text alerts even on the old plans.
