Btw, metropcs, sprint, T-Mobile, and local regional carriers, still are offering unlimited. There are quite a few articles, like at CNET, that will tell which carriers have unlimited, and I've read some carriers will bring it back to compete. Remember each carrier has their own definition of what 4g is.true 4g is actually 100mb down, but has been altered by corporations.

Sprint and such have already went on record that it isn't sustainable. They will be dropping it in the NEAR future. That's something you have to remember.
Here an article from a 3rd party explaining what is happening.
Here is one from CNET

Ive noticed that all of your posts, or comments, are always negative, and borderline irritating. If you have beef withVerizon, no matter the issue, why are you here?

Where has it been said that Sprint has gone on record about cutting off unlimited data in the near future? I' be seen third party opinions but have found nothing as an official statement from them.

Sprint is not going to go on record and give a time period or indicate unlimited is not forever. Their advertising right now is getting people to switch because the Big 2 do not have unlimited. To announce it will end will would be business suicide.
However, there are many very sharp industry pundits that make strong arguments that it is not sustainable.
In an unlimited situation, you have the lowest users paying the most per unit and thus subsidizing build-out and new technology out of proportion to the highest utilizers, who pay less per unit. You will end up with less build out, less technology, and an overloaded, slow network.
In a pay for what you use situation, the highest utilizers pay the in proportion to their share of use. This gives more money to build out more towers and newer technology faster. You will end up with a faster, better managed, more reliable, more covered network.
Those that do not want to worry about every go over, but do not care if the network slows can go with the unlimited. Those that depend on a connection and want the speed whenever they need it will pay more for a reliable network. SO you have low spenders that will never spend more for data use and high spenders that do not mind paying more for speed and reliability. Guess which company will do better?

Actually they didn't. It was still in the system until June 28 of this year. This is why when you upgrade they force you into the new plans(either tiered or share everything) If they got rid of it then then last year people wouldn't be grandfathered in this year when upgrading.
A little nit-picking to me! I could equally ask "If they got rid of it June 28, how come I still have it?"
I think there are (at least) three dates:
1) Whenever in 2011: Unlimited data is no longer an option for new users, existing users are grandfathered
2) June 28, 2012: Unlimited data is no longer available with subsidized upgrades, can BYOD or pay full retail
3) TBD: Unlimited data is no longer an option for anyone.

Because you signed a contract for a specific time so the plan wont change until you sign another contract that has the new policies and rates.
The unlimited plans worked on a grandfathered policy but about a year ago this was changed in the new contract, so when you agree to the new contract policies and prices you will loose the unlimited date on upgrade.
Verizon and many other carriers removed unlimited data and the ones that still have it has spotty reception so this will restrict how much data you will likely be able to use.... I do not see the unlimited plans returning any time soon.
