Re: We are waiting for "Android 4.1 JB", When is it coming?

Nope people branded it such.  I have owned every single Nexus device and ADP device Google has made. The main intention for the Nexus line is development, but Google isn't stopping non developers from buying it doesn't mean Google changed what it's original intent is.

Yes, and from the Nexus One it INTENTION was made clear what a Nexus IS.  It was FIRST and FOREMOST setting the minimal requirement for hardware from that point forward for OEMS.  It was developers device for developers to aim to be compatible for this device as it was to be expected would be the minimal requirement moving forward(yields quicker updates going forward).  Google also stated they WON'T stop normal consumers from buying it.  As the ORIGINAL intent is still it's intent, just Google doesn't mind selling to recoup some of their costs quicker.

People have branded it "Nexus Experience" to be more than it's original intent is all I am saying.

No need for name calling. Just because someone isn't as "technically

advance" as you doesn't mean they are a "moron." What you fail to realize

is that someone may be technical enough to know what they want out of their

"supposed pure Google" phone, but not technical enough to know how to do it

without messing something up and voiding their warranty. The fact still

remains that Verizon should treat their customers better by either

providing them with the update, or at least explaining to the customers why

there is a delay and when we can expect the updated OS. It's just good

customer service. As bad as AT&T was when I was with them, at least they

would let people know "why" there were outages, update delays, etc. At

least in my experience with them anyway.

Well I got a replacement yesterday and it came with the I515.10 baseband version and the IMM76Q build which is supposed to be the OTA update that they are doing for ICS.  When I spoke to a Verizon rep about my phone issue she informed me that I was supposed to have JB on my phone, then a tech support rep he informed me that they hadn't received the info from Google yet.(I don't believe it but) Also his guess was that it is supposed to be coming in the last quarter of the year at which point I was completely disgusted, but hey I'm not one of many who know how to do all the upgrades to my phone.  I read on a site that someone heard that Aug.15 was the date they would start to roll it out but who REALLY knows..

My point exactly. Who REALLY knows? Surely not us customers, because

Verizon doesn't seem to care enough about its customers to keep us informed

as to when, where, why, or how we will get JB. Complete lack of customer

support or concern. When my contract is up, I'm going to spend my money on

purchasing a pure google phone direct from Google and switching to a

prepaid plan on T-Mobile or going back to AT&T. My friends on AT&T seem to

have better connections now anyway since they have upgraded their network,

at lease here in Louisiana.

Yeah, I know a lot of people who are going to TMo for that very reason. I personally don't have a problem with their customer service as far as when I call in with issues but I do feel that I was kinda lied to about the whole Nexus experience. I was told that I would get updates as soon as they came out and that is far from the case.  I am staying with Verizon because of the coverage but when my contract is up I am definately looking at going back to one of the two you mentioned @ rednibkram...

I was informed by an AT&T technician that AT&T does not carry the Samsung

Galaxy Nexus phone in their Android lineup, but because they use the

GSM/HSPA+/LTE technologies, you can purchase a SGN direct from Google and

get a SIM card from AT&T and it will definitely work on their network.

There is the difference between Verizon and AT&T. Verizon won't tell you

anything except excuses, while AT&T will go out of their way to tell you

how you can get satisfaction on their network. They didn't have to tell me

about buying a SGN from Google, because that means they lose a cell phone

sale of one of the ones they do carry (even tho they still get your monthly

service payment), but they did. I can't even get a MONTH, let alone a DATE

that Verizon will give us JB. Pathetic and VERY SORRY I left AT&T!

AT&T as a whole (and any other carrier for that matter) would probably rather have their customers BYOD as they don't have to worry about taking the hit for a subsidized device.  Sure a sales rep loses commission and you're not locked into a 2 year contract but then again the carrier also doesn't have to worry about recouping the hundreds of dollars they subsidized.

Of course name calling and belittling someone is not called for, and anyone who does it does so to make themselves feel better.

However, there are other forums with fewer restrictions that offer step by step instructions for making your device yours.

There are some very knowledgeable people that can help others get out of almost any jam.

Some people scare themselves by assuming it's too difficult before they even read the instructions.

It really isn't difficult at all.
