Verizon doesn't deserve a Nexus Device

The entire point of the Nexus device is to apply the update when Google creates them. 4.0.4 was created for the Verizon LTE Nexus in Feb 2012. Its now almost May and Verizon is cause the of the delay.  Shame on you Verizon and your failure to apply a 28 MB file released months ago by Google.  You give Android a bad name. I wish you would destroy the Apple experience as much as you destroy the Android experience. O wait Apple doesn't take your crap and they release updates for their phone when then want, with complete disregard to your garbage changes and review to the OS.  You don't deserve Nexus devices or any other AOSP phone.  Whoever held up the update in this first place should be fired, on the spot. Accountability for the failure needs to be answered.

I agree Verizon (deleted content as per VZW ToS)!  Why won't the release the update.  I am really tired oh their (delete content..please keep your post family friendly). This is the reason I bought the "google" phone to get quick updates.  BOO!

That is the entire point of the Nexus devices? Seems like a waste if it is only distinguished by the fact that it just gets the update faster.

Some user do not want to void their warranty but flashing custom rom's to fix things that Google fixed months ago.  Some users purchased the phone because of other reasons such as the larger screen or ICS.  There is no disclaimer that says by purchasing this phone from Verizon that you will be responsible for breaking the warranty and flashing a custom rom to fix your problems months before Verizon finally gets around to releasing the change.  IMM30B was released by Google in early Feb 2012. Almost 3 months ago they fixed the wifi boot loop issues, call problems, etc. A ton of features that fixed many bugs that make the phone unusable. There is absolutely no reason why Verizon why had to stop the OTA from being released and for 3 months have dissatisfied users who still have a warranty.  Again I stand by my statement, Verizon destroys the Android experience.

My experience with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus has convinced of two things: 1) I only want Nexus devices - I don't want skins and 2) I am buying the next one directly from Google.

I will buy one if Verizon got another one.

There is a large misconception on what a Nexus is, and has never been corrected by Google.

a GED is a GED.  A Verizon Galaxy Nexus is much like a G2X as is a Nexus One.

Try and figure it out Smiley Happy

Tidbits,

Say more: a) what is the misconception, and b) what is a reasonable expectation?

My expectation is that if I buy a GN directly from Google on a GSM network, I will receive a) more timely updates directly from Google, however, b) it is possible that the poorer call quality and speed from the GSM Network will offset the benefits of the more timely updates.  Are these fair expectations?

If so, I am at a place where I am willing to determine if, in fact, #a is greater than #b for me.

Thanks,

Google has NEVER said their updates would be timely. This also has nothing to do with a GED(Google Experience Device for those who don't know) which for example G2X is.

This is a result of die hard fan ohs spurting out things and Google not communicating and correcting what is being said.

I've been a verizon customer for over 10 years and I'm getting fed up with this(deleted content to comply with VZW ToS).  just send it out to everyone or give them the option to do it on there own.  ready to just buy the nexus phone straight from google and probably look for another carrier, who is not as heavy as verizon.  Sprint is looking better and better especially if they are looking to charge for data. I don't get it same phone, no car dock with the 3 pin connector for verizon, doesn't show up on my mac, not sure who's at fault for that, and texting pauses with this phone on a regular basis. My friend has the same phone from google and has no problems and there is a solution and nothing is being done.  If they can't get the update out just as fast as google, because of network options, then they should have tested for this first thing.  It's the most important thing to consumers to have problems fixed with these smartphones and android is known for flexibility with universal charges etc... and you can't get the car dock that google offers.   Why buy from Verizon? if now I'm feeling locked like im using an iphone and it's partnership to blame.
