I have the facinate with phone and data. Is it true that I can use the 3G on my facinate to access wireless on my laptop?

If so can you tell me how?

You can turn your phone into a wireless hotspot so you can use the 3G broadband from the phone on your laptop or other devices, up to 5. Just be aware that it costs you $20 more per month to turn on and use that feature.

Holy crud! I don't have the need for the feature, but charging extra? I thought it was included. That's just not right...

Eventually the government will deregulate wireless carriers just like it did land line carriers and the current business model will die...quickly. There is nothing like exploitation and perceived injustice to create hatred and desire for change.

Thank you all for your replies. I would also like to add that the $20 data plan includes 2 GB of data per month. To turn it on, you can log in to your My Verizon as the Account Owner, then select Change Features from the bottom of the home page. Choose 3G Mobile Hotspot & Mobile Broadband Connect and then Next.

Thank you,

Thank you for the feedback. Adding to what was stated, the $20.00 hotspot is for 2 Gigabytes of data feature that makes your device a mobile hotspot using it as an internet connection via your phone. It is not related to the data plan on your device. It is like in a small sense a wireless router to connect your laptop to the internet. As you would pay for a internet service provider for your internet connection, the same idea would be to use the hotspot. Also, in replying to the OP, you can use a USB cable to connect your phone to your computer. Then once mounted your device will be a storage device would be a accessible on your computer.

For more information on mobile hotspots, use this link: http://www.verizonwireless.com/b2c/mobilebroadband/?page=plans

There are ways of avoiding paying this additonal fee if you do a few things to your phone, you can find out by just doing a search on google. It has been reported that ATT has cracked down on this behavior stating they know who is abusing this feature on their phone..
