I'm on Long Island NY.

On Friday 12/16, FedEx delivered my Samsung Galaxy Nexus. I only had one bar signal strength.

On Saturday 12/17, my signal, was dropped several times and the reset took several minutes.

My Original Driod had 3 or four bars.

My wife’s new iPhone 4S typically has 3 bars, but the signal is constant and STRONG, even in my basement!

I hope this i resolved. I will call ustomer service on Monday to open a case.

I'll give it a week. Verizon has seldom let me down.

You may actually have a stronger signal than you think. Seams I read in other forums or threads that what is two bars on one manufaturers phone may be three bars on another. I think the iPhone had this problem and Apple sent out an update that made thier phone show more bars with the same signal strength. ( then everyone was happy and all was right with the world) Smiley Happy

@dirkbonn:

I've found myself wondering if that's the case, as well. Despite the phone displaying no bars in a lot of the areas where I am daily, I've yet to have it drop a call and call quality is good.

That said, I've taken to checking the reported signal strength number in the Settings -> About Phone -> Status area. Thus far, in my house, the best I've seen the Nexus report is -83dBm. It seems to be far more affected by walls than my Droid X was, as the further away I get from my north window (the window facing the Verizon cell site a couple of miles down the road) the worse the reported signal strength gets. My Droid X would report -75dBm anywhere in my house, whereas the Nexus is down to -100dBm when I take it into the south bedroom.

Hopefully your theory is correct. If it is, it would seem that the Nexus is not displaying signal strength bars incorrectly but that the absolute signal strength numeric value is being calculated incorrectly.

When I first got the phone, I fell in love with it. The honeymoon lasted less than 24 hours. During that time I noticed the Android lag creeping in, funky things with the keyboard (as mention by the OP) and rebooting.

The keyboard: In addition to the first letter not auto-capping occasionally, I've had issues where I go to correct a misspelled word and, instead of replacing the old word with the correct spelling, it places the new word right in the middle of the old one. That only happens occasionally, the cap thing happens more frequently.

Reboot: My Droid x would reboot about once every two days. This one rebooted 26 hours after I got it. Needless to say, I was not pleased. Both of my girls have iPhone 4s (not the 4S) and neither has experienced this. It's ridiculous for a brand new phone to just reboot.

I've had instances where it just stops playing music, as if I hit the pause button. I have to reboot it to get it to stop doing this.

The speaker and camera absolutely suck.

I attempted to return it yesterday, but the store was out of iPhones, so I'll have to wait they get some more in or go back to my old phone before my 14 days are up.
