They'd still need to add Touchwiz 3.0 over it since the Nexus S is stock android.  That'll take at least 6 months. lol

Correct me if I am wrong here, but isn't the Galaxy Tab running 2.2 on Verizon? And isn't it just an oversized Galaxy S smartphone... If so why can't a dev import that build to the Fascinate? Just a thought.

probably something to do with the modem file since the Galaxy Tab is data only.  If they could get a working one leaked from Samsung, then we'd probably be good.

The Galaxy Tab is running Froyo for tablets, it is a different OS then the phone version.

Verizon, just thought i would let you know... YOU SUCK, Gingerbread released today, yet we still have no Froyo on the Fascinate. The Epic 4G gets Froyo but we're stuck with eclair.... I HATE YOUR FACE!!!!

It is a shame that  Samsung is so concerned with new customer acquisition that they have now put atleast two devices out with Froyo (2.2) and Gingerbread (2.3) and yet they are still raping the poor fools who were hooked into the Galaxy S line which are stuck on 2.1.  However we should remember that verizon is holding us up with their bloatware installation.

The issue is neither company Samsung or Verizon are concerned with current customers.  Samsung does not care because they already got their money and Verizon could careless because they know you will just have to keep your underperforming phone or you will be paying 350 dollar early termination fee.

I found a link that compiled 10 top reasons why anyone would like to have Froyo.

1. Performance

2. SD Storage for apps

3. New widgets

4. Web to Phone capability

5. Improved camera

6. Adobe Flash

7. Improved Gmail and messaging

8. Android Market facelift

9. Tethering

10. Faster stock browser

Now, let me tell you what I think is important for me as Fascinate user.

1. Performance. Yes and No. If performance will increase but battery life will decrease then I won't be happy. What the use of driving Ferrari over BMW, if Ferrari consumes more gas but has smaller gas tank...

2. SD Storage for apps. Defiantly yes.

3. New widgets. Maybe.

4. Web to Phone. I don't care for that. So No.

5. Improved camera. I don't know how much better it could get. I think that current one is good enough.

6. Adobe Flash. Yes, but only if it truly works.

7. Improved Gmail. Existing one works just fine for me.

8. Androd market facelift. I don't care for minor updates.

9. Tethering. I am not using it now and I don't care for that in the future.

10. Faster stock browser. I am using Opera Mini and it loads pages very fast.

What I'd really like to see sooner than latter is a fix for GPS to decrease "cold" start locking time.

Now ask those questions yourself and decide how much upgrade to Froyo really worth your nerves and frustration. Live and enjoy your life and set those little nuances aside. Trust me that will allow you to enjoy more cell phones in the future. Everyday above the ground is a blessed day!

Here are my top reasons for wanting this phone to get an update...

1.  A GPS client that locks on when I start it without having to wait ten minutes.

2. Elimination of an embarasingly slow lag when switching between apps.  This is fast?

3. Native email client that works.  I'm doing the best I can now with K-9.

4. The ability to use the audio out feature of the desk docks I paid for.  Time to take that warning sticker off!

There are more, but those are the top four.

I'm not blaming Samsung... I think the phone is great.  But, I'll never be a Verizon customer again once I get through this contract...make that the four lines we have on Verizon now.

Crap!

Let me ask you one question. Do you believe that other carrier will provide you with a better service then Verizon?

My Droid X battery lasts much longer after I updated to 2.2. Apps seem to be more responsive and run faster. My wife purchased a Fascinate and it is really running through its battery. That's why I am interested in when it will finally get 2.2.
