Not receiving Voice Mail...shocking reason why.

Since I purchased my Fascinate back in September 2010 I have never received any Voicemail and I never really gave it much thought, I always answer my phone when it rings...if it rings. Yesterday my daughter-in-law called me from Arizona to give me some information and since I was working I asked her to just call me back and leave details in Voicemail. I heard my phone ring right after that and assumed I had received her message.

Hours later after work I went to check phone for her message and found none, same day I have briefly spoken to my wife and she told me I will call you back, she never did. I checked with my wife and she said she called me back and my phone when directly to Voicemail and she had left me a message. Now I am upset so I called Verizon to find out why I don't get my Voicemail messages and I am told by the rep. that my voicemail is all being forwarded to another number, she gives me number which I do not recognize and I failed to write down, she tells me I will remove the forwarding and before I can't stop her, she does and when I asked her for the number all my messages have being going to she says I don't know I erased it and cannot retrieve it.

Anyway to me it is very upsetting to find out that all Voicemails sent to me in 9 months were being received by a stranger about 200 miles away (I remembered the area code) I don't even know how to set up call forwarding and neither does my wife. Just thought I pass this along in case someone else is not receiving any Voicemail, you might want to check and see if it's being rerouted.

calling *71 or *72 sets up the various call forwarding features (one is immediate call forwarding, the other is conditional call forwarding, and I do not remember which is which). It doesn't ask for a password or anything, just nearly instantly configures it. *73 removes both features though.

Don't feel bad...you are not the first...nor would I believe the last this will happened to. My father and I also bought these phones last Sept while they were on special...Trust me...we NEVER would have had we known the problems that would ensue with them. We have both had them replaced 3 times each as well as the newest issue just a few weeks ago... But ours was one step farther then yours on the Verizon screw up scale...not only were we not receiving voicemails, but they had completely re-routed our calls! Resulting in me losing a job because they thought I had disconnected my phone! The worst part of it was bit wasn't just my phone.. It was my fathers to! And the cherry on the cake, THE FASCINATE CUSTOMER CAN NOT EVEN REROUTE CALLS ON THEIR OWN!!! This was stated directly from the Verizon CSR... Unfortunately another glitch it seems like every fascinate customer will have to face 😞

Maybe a Verizon rep. can offer an explanation as to how this rerouting takes place. I am 100% sure I did not do it and my phone is always in my posession. The phone rep. told me also that the rerouting requires a phone call to Verizon and I never made that call.

Thanks for the info, even that method would make it impossible to inadvertently dial those numbers and then enter the 10 digit number that my voicemail was being rerouted to since it was a number unknown to me and not in my contacts or call logs.

That's very frustrating not being able to receive your voicemails. There are several applications out there that can forward for calls to another number examples are Google voice and ymail. Or by dialing *72 and any numbers it will forward to what ever are dialed after that *72. The way to disable that is to dial *73 then pressing send.
