Hi ddunker, I know you are anticipating Jellybean!  Although we don't have a date for it yet, you can visit our News Center at news.vzw.com for the latest updates and announcements.

Why is it so difficult to estimate a release date?  You need so many days to tweak it, so many days to test it, so many days to tweak it again, etc. etc....

Apple started this secrecy crap and everyone thinks it is cool and it is the right thing to do.  Why Verizon got a Nexus device is beyond me.  Verizon, certainly, is not capable of getting updates out quickly.  Nexus means update comes from Google, we all get it.  Why is Verizon so much worse than AT&T at releasing updates?  I know, it is a secret.

Take matters into your own hands if you can.

I have been running jellybean for at least 1 month.

No, but if you take matters into your own hands, you won't need or want it.

True, but this is 2012 and any good company can consider all the variables and issue a release date.  They can even be conservative and then toot their own horn when it comes out early.  That is what the airlines do to better their on time stats.

It's not in Verizon's control. If you know how CDMA works, and is coded there are 3 entities involved.  With GSM there is only 1.  CDMA needs signatures from Qualcomm, Google/Samsung(More than likely Samsung), and Verizon.  This takes times as 3 have to agree that it is working properly.  GSM works differently and only needs one signature.  If you noticed...  Only GSM versions, and wifi versions of newer devices has gotten the update.  CDMA version around the world have not gotten their update yet.  LTE is also new tech which may have it own set of issues that needs to be fixed.  HSPA+ has been around a lot longer(In Europe/Asia since the late 90's I believe) than LTE(started to roll out worldwide in various places).

If you want to see how complicated it can get.  Here is JBQ(lead android developer) on Software Engineering Schedule

You are not always going to meet your deadlines.  Setting up a deadline and publicizing it is a lawsuit waiting to happen by the general public.  Samsung, AT&T, and a few other companies got burnt in recent past for it.
