This post seems like you have more questions than answers or facts.  Not that it's a bad thing. 

 

Months ago froyo 2.2 was released by Samsung in the U.K., Canada and parts of the Nordic. Apparently Samsung released a valid version of froyo 2.2 to these parts of the world. Why can't they do the same for their customers here in the U.S.? A valid version might be a bigger statement than you think.  Maybe they chose to release this update in these areas and then found issues that needed to be addressed before they released it across the US and other areas?  I mean since we are asking questions, why not this question?
Are our fascinates that much different than theirs? Is the reason it hasn't been released because of the bloatware and because Verizon and Samsung are having a hassle over feature updates? One would assume this is highly possible as a portion of the delay but not the sole reason.
Is it possible that Samsung and Verizon have led us to believe there would be a froyo 2.2 release but never intended to follow through with it? Looking at the history of update to the OS and previous smartphones, one would think this question is misleading.  The other poster made this clear with the listing of updates we have received since 2009.
Has the fascinate hit a brick wall with eclair 2.1 and won't go any further down the road of updates? There are a ton of questions that fascinate owners have been asking and we're basically told put your hands down, sit down, shut up and we will let you know when we are ready if and when froyo 2.2 will be available! I personally have never had a representative from either company address me or my questions this way.  Sorry if this has happened to you.
Wasn't it reliable when it was released overseas? Maybe not.  Anything other than experience with this is an assumption.
The Fascinate is in fact a great phone.  My husband has the iPhone and has enjoyed it but since my acquiring this Fascinate he has increasingly grown envious of my phones capabilities to be more personalized and the freedom of using other apps for his music and other features that are not specifically only for the iPhone.  I personally like his phone and feel that the iPhone set the bar for all these other manufacturers to match up to. I didn't buy the phone for the update.  I bought it for the features and fast processor.  I have been satisfied with both.  I hope to be happy with the potential update as well.  See no need to change to an iPhone over and update.

The (Costco) salesman said: 2.2 will be out soon!  Google will be properly intergrated and navagation will work, blah blah blah - OK, I'll take it! Beautiful phone and it sounds like the things at issue with 2.0 will be history in short order!

 

What a farce!  My whole buying decision would have been different had I known I wouldn't see 2.2 on this phone by now. Hell, by October 2010!

 

At Christmas I saw a Verizion advertisment showing 3 phones and 3 different Android OS versions.  The ad was oriented around the OS version and the Fascinate was not the 2.2 model! Verizon was using this phone's OS as a reason to buy a (more expensive) phone.  I knew right then and there I wasn't going to see 2.2 on this phone till waaaaaaaay down the line (if ever).

 

As a new customer coming from Sprint, I like Verizon network but because of this experience I hate them as a company.  Additionally I was told I had free Verizon to Verizon minutes and texting with the 65 Plus plan and ended up finding out neither was true and I had to jump up another $20 a month to cover my useage.

 

Point the finger all you want but its Verizon's responsibility. I don't see a 'Good' company here, just another 2000 lb. gorillia doing the money grab like their brother AT&T does.

 

Quite frankly I feel very taken!

RoyB_VZW I have done that many times in the past 3-5 years and never got any emails from Verizon on products or updates. And yes I check spam folder everytime I check mail.

anyways, since my previous post was deleted, androidcentral.com has the answer to this question, the closest to official 2.2 is there its simple and easy to do...PM me since they frown upon helping people getting the answers to questions.
