Apps not updating?

My last phone used to get almost daily notifications that there were app updates available or that auto-updates had occurred but my Galaxy Nexus has yet to show an update being done (or available).  Does this seem odd and/or has anybody been getting notifications that there are app updates being done or available?

It all depends on the developer. When they have an update, they will post the update to the market.

It doesn't surprise me that app updates are slower during the holiday season.

you can always go to the market, press the menu button and go to my apps..... sometimes the automatic notifier does not work as well as it should.

I get updates sometimes.  it depends on when the developers update their apps.  Most devs haven't even bothered with ICS.  I believe the app I updated was Tapatalk a few days ago for ICS support...  Some stuff was already updated for ICS support long before the GN was released like Handcent for example.  Some stuff I haven't seen an update for since the middle of 2010.  I updated all my work related apps before this phone came out, but I still getting kinks out of it.

I too have this same issue.  I even get notifications that updates are available, but then when I go to the Market app, hit the menu key (i.e. the vertical line of three dots) and select My Apps, I see which apps I have installed, but there is no notification or indication of which apps have an available update.  Furthermore, I cannot find any menu item or button or anything that would allow me to update all apps.

This seems to be something specific to Ice Cream Sandwich, because most of the suggestions and/or solutions to such problems refer to menu items that I do not have available on my Galaxy Nexus.

Thank you everyone for your posts. I have a Nexus also, and I am not able to duplicate this issue. I get notifications and I am able to update my applications. Please open your Market application and press the Menu icon with the three buttons at the top of the screen. Choose Settings, then make sure Notifications is checked and Update over Wi-Fi only is not checked (unless you prefer this feature). If the settings are correct, clear cache from your Market application. This will not erase any data, but you may need to sign in to your Google account when you open the Market again. Go to Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Market>Clear data/cache.

Let me know if this helps!

Do you have automatic update on? It is more of a market problem than a Verizon problem. Market should always update automatically regardless of the device you have. Google has complete control of the market software. There are 2 bug reports that I know of about the new market.

1. Shows updates are available and when you check there are now. Usually when that happens auto update is set and the updates were already installed. You actually got the update is available when you shouldn't have gotten one unless it is a manual update(this happens when a change in permissions or terms of use)

2. Shows updates are available, but you can't update. This is a delay bug and annoys me the most. The update information hasn't been completely updated. This has been happening since the new market style was released.

Thanks for the clues, but I haven't figured it out yet.  I had automatic update turned on, but I could not figure out how to tell if I had the latest version of my apps.  Even though I would get a message that an update was available, I would go to the "my apps" screen through the link in the notification area and I would not see any indication of an app that needed updating.  I figured that maybe since I had automatic updating on, that whichever app needed updating had simply updated already.  I can't figure out how to tell which one needed updating and whether or not an update took place.  So I turned automatic updating off to see whether I an indication of which app needed updating would appear.  So far, no.  Even though I get a notification and I go to the "my apps" screen, there is no indication of which app needs updating.  Very frustrating.

Try clearing you market cache and data. See if the notification pops back up.

Not sure how to do that.  I tried to follow the instructions of MarquiaF_VZW, but when I go to Settings>Apps all I have are the list of apps with the following tabs; Downloaded, Running, and All.  I could not find a Manage Applications link anywhere.

I feel like I must be running a different OS than everybody else.  I am new to Android, but I'm usually pretty good with these things...  According to Settings>About phone, I am running Android 4.0.2.

Go to all and look for market. Tap on it.
