Address book all messed up

When I was setting up my phone it downloaded every contact I had in my Gmail account (which is not my main email account and has a lot of useless contacts/numbers) and when I added my company email it downloaded all of those contacts as well with emails and numbers that I"m not interested in having on my phone.  None are the contacts are listed under the main "Contacts" list but 1800 are listed under "Groups" as "Not assigned" and 7 under the Gmail account.

There are many contacts listed as both gmail, and phone contacts,  and there are lots of duplicates as well.

My interest is to clean up this list and only get the contacts I want on it.  Any help would be appreciated!

You are aware that you can manually edit your contacts? Click contacts then pick the contact that you want to edit or delete. Push the menu key and options will open to allow you to delete or edit your contact. Sounds like it will take you awhile but when you are finished be sure to back up your finished contact list.
