I will be traveling to Austrlia for an extended period of time. I would like to change out my sim card in my Galaxy S4 with a local carrier. Is my phone unlocked? Or is my phone only allowed to work with Verizon. The Verizon international/global plan are very expensive.
Thanks for the help. Any recommendations on carriers in Australia?

John340,
That's a very exciting trip! We'd love to set you up with our global plans http://vz.to/1Ixlc5V but I can understand how for a long trip that could not be the best option. The Galaxy S4 is fully unlocked and can be used with any compatible network in Australia!

I used my Verizon S4 in Japan and was able to set it up with a local plan. When I inserted the new SIM card, the phone gave me a warning that SIM card was from an unverified source (or something like that) but it still worked.
