My new s4 mini stopped charging. I noticed that the charging circuit dropped to "no charging" very soon after I would plug it into either the wall or a USB port. I also noticed that an "eye symbol" would appear at the top of the screen just before the charging circuit would stop no matter the % charge on the battery. So I went to the Smart Screen / Smart Stay and turned it off. Since then my charging has been working. I still don't understand why I get the "charging will be slow you should get a Samsung charger" message since I've using the charger sent to me by Verizon plugged into the AC wall socket. It does take a long time to charge the battery.
