IS there any advantage to transferri SIM card from old phone to new one?
The phone is instantly activated on boot up with the old SIM card. You can switch between two phones that use the same size of SIM card on a monthly or weekly or daily basis if that suits your fancy.
You don't have to go to the store to get the new one activated. You don't have to sign into your MyVerizon account online and change the phone through the steps there.

Great question. Unless you'd like to keep the original there is no added benefit of keeping the old SIM Card.
