What is the NG6 update?

My phone is overheating and the battery life really sucks all of a sudden.  Could it be the NG6 update?  Was it done automatically?

Thanks for reaching out to us. How long is the battery life these days? What is the approximate amount of time it takes to deplete the battery after the device is fully charged? If the battery is working harder than normal, it can tend to get hot.

I recharge it every night and by 3 pm the next day I'm getting the battery low signal.   I do not play games or watch videos or play music....ever.  

Yesterday it shut down automatically because it was too hot.  That was the first time that happened.

I've had the phone around 1 yr.

Honestly, you have one of two options.

1. Go to verizon and demand a replacement. If that doesn't work,

2. Back up all your contacts, items, pictures, etc - find a fireplace or someplace outdoors free from brush - douse the phone in lighter fluid - set the phone on fire.

.. Because honestly, nothing you do is going to fix the problem and Verizon won't own up to it. What they will do however is try to sell you another charger and battery. Your phone will be more worthwhile providing heat than being used.

Yes this is probably a bug in the NG6 update. I too have been experiencing terrible battery life and a message about my phone overheating. My phone never had any of these issues on the NC5 build.

Take your phone to the nearest Vzw store and have it checked out. DO NOT PAY FOR ANYTHING. Demand that all labor charges and part fees be waived. If they can't help you take your cell phone services to AT&T.

That does seem a bit off, Michelle1953. Once you did the software update, did you factory reset the device? As a I stated, an overheated battery is not good so we definitley want to get it evaluated if we can. In the meantine, the Software Upgrade Assistant is also recommended http://vz.to/12T5bHK.

I did not factory reset the device.  Didn't know I was supposed to & wouldn't know how.  I plan on going to a Verizon store this weekend.
