Voicemail notification

Phone says I have a NEW voicemail, but I don't.
Can't figure out how to turn off notification.

I think it's a Visual VM, but I'm not paying $2.99 a month just to clear it.
Any ideas?

Where is the notification on the phone? Which phone model do you have?

Galaxy S3

Notification is on top left.
When I slide down from the top, it says new voicemail, but I check and there is NO new voicemails.

Also...VM app has a circled 1 over it.

Are you using the stock voicemail app or a third-party app?

Call your phone number from another phone and leave a short message.  After completing that message, go back to you phone and access the voicemail and delete the message you just left.  It should clear the notification.

A few more questions:

1. Where is the notification? In the status bar, notification drawer, on an icon on the desktop or the app drawer?

2. Does it reappear after a reboot?

3. Have you tried clearing the cache for the voicemail app?

I actually don't have the stock voicemail app on my S3, so I can't troubleshoot as I normally would (sorry).

Either vzw techs removed it, or I did something because it's gone now.
