So, based on that logic:

You buy a car and they say, "We will be happy to install the personalized/custom mats, just come back tomorrow."

You come back and they don't have the mats, then you keep checking for three months and they still don't have your mats - then you see everyone that has the same car and they are getting their mats at different dealerships, you should:

A) Not say anything

B) Get another car from another dealership (even though you still owe money on your current car)

That makes sense, I guess. I guess everyone shouldn't whine - just "act" like they never told us they would ever give us the update.

Brand new Verizon customer here. Bought an S4 with cash money, no contract. Not happy here with Verizon dragging their feet over 4.4.2 KitKat update.

If I were on ANY OTHER carrier I would have KitKat on my S4.

When it is time to upgrade to a new phone I will not be re-upping with Verizon. Extremely poor customer service.

(B) People do it all the time. Buying another car when you still owe on your current car.  It's called a trade in.
So with your choice sell your current device, use it to pay your ETF and move on to the carrier of your choice.

Now you have your new device, you are happy to be rid of Verizion, not whining anymore (well not yet, just wait abit) then you can start your whining again.

Speak with your $$ people. If you are as unhappy as I am over Verizon not releasing KitKat then don't sign up again when your contract is up. There are 3 other major carriers. Give them your business instead of Verizon. When someone asks your opinion of Verizon then bring up this gem.

I see other people complaining over Verizon yet they are repeat customers. If you have been screwed over by Verizon in this fashion before then why are you returning to them. All I can think here is "Thank you sir may I have another?".

I am a brand new Verizon customer for only 3 weeks so I can honestly say I didn't know Verizon treated customers like this. I will not be returning however. I am going to speak with my $$. This is the only way companies like this will listen...when we as customers affect Verizon's stock market value and Verizon's stock holders take notice. Then and only then will Verizon listen to us.

Here is my signature for the petition. I'm using a g2 and it is most definitely bs on Verizon's part. G2 on ALL other carriers and even different countries have had there devices updated to latest 4.4.2 Except good ole big red.... At&t just updated again for a bug fix. So two updates faster then vzw. I feel for all g3, g4, note3 and fellow g2 users. Just because they want to market the g5 that runs KitKat as only device on Vzw that has it. WOW!!! Don't even try to blame it on Samsung or LG cause we all know who. This will be my last contract for sure with vzw. I went through this with my last device Galaxy Nexus and its a nexus for a reason but vzw killed that pretty quick. Nexus devices still available on other carriers except 1? Yea good job on that also. Google puts updates out for reasons, not just features but bug fixes and security patches. Good to know you stand behind your customers safety

Why did Verizon lock the old discussion? Did they send you an email or something telling you it was locked?

@Klue:

Three months into a two year contract is not a trade in, you will take a hit financially even though it is not as big as the one you would take with a car.

It's not whining when people are voicing that they want something that was promised to them (for instance, the post that was locked clearly had Verizon saying that we would get the update soon but they had to make sure it was a good update).

Whining would be something to the nature of:

I didn't get my update and phone is too bright and I can't feel it in my pocket because it is too slim and light and the color doesn't go with my outfit and friends phone has a louder ringer, etc.

Sure we can go to other carriers and most of us will. The principle of the matter is that we are offered something and we aren't getting it in a reasonable fashion. Based on this logic of not whining then we should:

Not call the police when someone is shooting at us (whining, after all, they will eventually run out of bullets).

Not say anything to the bank after they admit they made a mistake with our balance and said they would have it fixed in x amount of time.

Not worry about what we buy at all as we can just return it (or trade it in for something else) - hell, we may as well just keep trading things in until we finally get something we like!!  ...as long as we don't whine about it right?

Most of us did our homework with both the company and the phone before we bought it. We know that phones get updates for x amount of months after a new phone comes out (I myself actually ask and did ask the Verizon rep what to expect on my phone). We check out the contract, the length of contract, the services offered for the money we AGREE to pay for this service. If Verizon came out and said, "x model will no longer get updates" and people were vocal on the forums - that would be whining. That simply isn't the case here. Then to compare a phone with new features our phones were "promised" to get and still don't have, that is about low as it gets. That is something to the nature of your friend telling you to get x computer and then telling you that you bought the lousiest computer on the market to all your other friends behind your back.

Now you tell me how this is whining?

Of course Verizon won't answer the question because communicating to their customers is foreign to them. They won't listen to the consensus because they don't care. They want to add a lot of bloatware because they want to have control over an operating system that was already proven to be bug free. Of course Verizon won't read the posts from their already angry customers because they see through all the propaganda and bull s*** that if you want the new OS you must buy the new phone that has the Kit Kat 4.4 already on it. I will tell you now, I have no plans to buy the new phone because the one I bought last year works perfectly fine and is perfectly capable of receiving the upgrade. Surely Verizon can do much better...

Use Swappa.com to sell your past phone.  I have sold 3 recently and all sold within 2 weeks.  Best place to sell phones and I have often purchased phones there which you could not even tell had been used.  I used them a few days / weeks figured out I did not really like the phone and resold it.
