Update idea for Verizon

I came up with this idea because the JB update created only one problem to me.  The Backup Assistant Plus app was not working for me and when I called Verizon, the tech had me do a factory reset that cured the problem. I think that Verizon should put the updates on their website and allow us to download them on to our home computers.  Then we could connect our phones to the computer via the USB cable and start the update.  If the update doesn't work the first time, we could simply re-install the update by re-connecting to the home computer and start the update again.

Each phone has it's own version of the updates. make other manufacturers are different but LG allowed you to update to JB from your computer.

I'm sure this isn't done because of the confusion that could be had. You get somebody who doesn't read (and, by the number of repeat questions on this site, there are quite a few) and they may try to install the wrong update for their phone, one that was intended for a different phone. That being said, it would be nice to be able to access a downloadable version from official sources.

Most Verizon users probably have access to their account online.  Verizon could attach the update to that person or allow the updates to be sent by the cell phone manufacturer (Samsung for instance).  I had a Samsung Omnia and also the Omnia II and the updates for these phones actually came from Samsung.  AT&T did their JB updates using the Kies software, if they can do it why can't Verizon?

verizon can, but they are WAY more controlling than any other carrier. i don't see it ever happening. i do agree though, it would be nice.
