Turn off/uninstall visual voicemail

I turned off "Basic visual voicemail" in my account online. But I am not able to uninstall or turn off the app on my Samsung Galaxy S5.

it can't be uninstalled, it's part of 4.4.4

is there a way to "turn off" the app. I am able to do that for other pre installed apps but not for this.

This app requires that my mobile data to be always on even when I am connected to wifi.

This app is not only a nag but eats up battery by using mobile data. Verizon needs to fix this and fast.

I called Customer service and after a long waiting time and transferring me to a couple of other agents they where NOT able to help me in getting this app off. Very annoying.

My wife has a S4 mini and I am able to turn off the app.

And when I turn off the app in her phone the Mobile data turns off automatically when it is connected to a wifi signal. But when the app is on both the mobile data and the wifi are on which causes the battery to drain quickly.
