llamee,

I think you may be onto something here. Nothing was selected for my Access Point Name as well and I selected LTE - Verizon Internet, the only choice available and just did a speed test. I was able to get 3967kbps as opposed to the 379kbps that I have been getting every since the last update. While it's still not quite as fast as I'm used to on 4g, it's a lot closer. I recommend everyone try this and see if it helps.

Also, Verizon, it would be nice if you would admit that there is a problem with the update and stop telling folks to wipe their phones losing data or offering replacements. I think when you have hundreds if not thousands of folks reporting the same issue from across the US, it's obvious what the problem is.

Thanks llamee! Hopefully it lasts.

Thanks.  Glad to hear it may work for others.  So far, I'm still going strong since making the changes.

I knew I shouldn't have updated it...I can care less about the multi window (screen is too small for it to be beneficial anyway) but updated it because of the supposed USB cable issue fix. Funny thing is, my laptop still does not recognize my phone when its plugged up and now no data haha.

This brings me back to the old Bionic days when update after update was pushed out because of no/slow data and it was never the same and never fixed. Great timing though now that the S4 is out and we have an option to upgrade/purchase essentially the same phone in a slightly different version. Hey, its like when the Bionic was released, bombed severely then the RAZR came out shortly afterwards.

Well played

You mean you hate the phone makers, since they are the ones putting out the updates to verizon.

who then pushes them out to the customers.

I am having similar issues after the update and came out to the forum to try a find some answers. I have 2 major complaints and those are as follows.

FIRST- When I am connected to a WiFi network, e.g. (my home network), the mobile data still appears as to be on as well. I'm not trying to insult anyone's intelligence here, I am only making this part of my example. Under normal circumstances, as soon as my phone connects to my home network, by default, my mobile data shuts off. This does not appear to be happening. At the top of my screen where it shows I am connected to my home WiFi network, it displays the 4G as well. This leads me to believe that I am using my mobile data when connected to a WiFi network.

SECOND- I have noticed a huge increase of battery use. It appears as if there are programs running in the background that I am not aware of and they are sucking the battery life. I have started turning off my mobile data under the settings tab.

I will continue to read some other concerns and questions from other users, as well as trying to see what Verizon is going to do to fix this problem.

Thanks for the knowledge and assistance

Matt

Hey Matt,

I am right there with you buddy! As for your first issue, I have read on other forums that once the Caller ID application is disabled, then the WiFi and Mobile Data running simultaneously will be resolved. You may have to close all apps and restart the phone for it to take affect,

So I attempted everything I could think of and nothing resolved it...numerous factory resets, new SIM, disabling Caller ID, deleting cache, Global/LTE toggle, battery pulls, SIM pulls, rebooted phone without SIM, then with, rebooted phone with SD, then with...same issue.

Spoke with both Verizon and Samsung and neither of them have answers or resolution other than 'we are aware of it' and being told to use WiFi when available.

After the most recent tech at Verizon told me that it would be resolved 'in a couple of weeks' I was left with no choice but to go to the previous software version (by means frowned upon by Verizon) and now up and running without issue, and data is blazing as it once did,

Its a shame we have to go this route, but Verizon and/or Samsung appear to show no urgency whatsoever about fixing this issue in the immediate future.

Tried all the same things that you did @ajnevares1 and replaced the SIM at the VZW store but didn't do the Frowned-upon-by-Verizon technique.  It would be helpful to us all if Samsung and/or Verizon would come out publicly to (1) prevent more user updates and (2) stop people from twisting in the wind trying to solve this on our own.  I for one would be more comfortable if theses companies would simply admit that there is a problem and that it will be addressed. They do do even inform there store operators so they can handle unhappy customers.  Makes you wonder if they know HOW to test there own products or if there was even a Beta Test in real environments.  For Samsung people: remember the Instinct? No repeat, please.

I to am having 3G/4G drops like most here, but my story is slightly diff. I started having problems on 6/1 in the afternoon, getting no connection messages like everyone else,so i decided to check for an update, which i found, after install-the drops are 10 times worse, and i only see 3G now or noG....I also called lvl 1 and 2 tech, and jumped through the usual hurdles cache reset, and the eventual sim card swap this afternoon, while this did help some it still is having serious problems, they also have a supposedly new phone waiting for me...somehow i think it is refurb and the tech was lieing,so i will hold off

also of note is neither tech i spoke to knew of this problem...which i find strange after this visit to this verizon forum

and they want me to buy the S4   --   I think not..
