Since my S4 pulled the lollipop update on 5/30/15, ive gotten the following error message every day at least once a day "SIM card not from Verizon"...which it is because it was provided to me with the phone at the Verizon corportate store when I upgraded in july of 2014. I had no SIM issues with this line prior to may 30th. I also had no signal issues either. Now whenever I leave my no service home and drive a mile down the road where I know there is 4G LTE and full signal, I have to restart my phone to get that 4G LTE and full signal (Same with my mom's brand new LG G3, her's pulled the update on 5/30 as well). I also had to disable my NFL mobile app due to it crashing whenever I restarted my phone. I've had to disable all notfications for my apps because even though my phone is set to a specific tone for notifications it still plays that annoying whistle. My text alerts are okay, and I haven't received any phone calls so I'm not sure about that tone working correctly or not. I can no longer have my phone set to auto brightness at just above mid-level because its too dark, I have to have it set to max brightness with auto unchecked. The new way to get into the multi-screen function just plain sucks, I miss the tab on the side of the screen so I am no longer using that function. I have done everything to this phone aside from a factory reset because I know the factory reset is not going to fix this issue and i'm getting very frustrated with this. I was never this glued to my phone checking to see if the error has popped up or checking to see if I need to restart my phone while i'm driving. UGH, FIX the S4 & LG G3!!!

The factory reset has corrected teh issue on a lot of peoples devices. It's a software problem, the reset corrects software issues.

How is a factory  reset  going to fix an OS issue? How is a factory reset going to fix my phone saying my Sim card is not a Verizon  sim? How is a factory reset going to fix having to restart 2 phones every day to regain signal [one being my s4, the other being a LG g3]?

And I know resets fix software  issues, I have almost 7 years experience  with a competitor doing tech support for mobile devices, most of which was android certified support

You have answered your own question. The OS is software and the factory reset fixes software.

The issues you are having all started since the OS update, that tells me that the OS caused the issues you're seeing now. Factory reset the device to fix the issues that the OS started.
