So last night Verizon (removed) my phone with the 4.3 update. While I liked FINALLY getting an update, I am pretty (removed) off because when you limit background restrictions, there are STILL tons of apps running in the background. So how can I stop this? The RAM is getting eaten up and annoying me. Do you realize how much faster the phone runs when ALL background apps are killed? It runs as fast as lightning strikes. So please Verizon explain to me why I have set background restrictions yet 30 - 40 stock apps that I did not download are running?

Why is the Google Search and Android OS so high?

My wireless issues seem to be resolved. Support via Twitter suggested removing battery and SIM, reinserting and restarting. No wireless issues after that. Battery still seems to be an issue. Once I am fully charged, I am going to start monitoring it. Haven't really had an opportunity before. I suspect it is similar to what jadefu posted with the screenshot.

I have no idea! The phone should have been idle and nothing should have been running!

Did you select each item to see exactly what it was doing? Screen on time, keep awake time, data transfer?

I called Samsung directly about these issues and the representative acted like this was all new to him!  My phone gets too hot to hold sometimes, my wifi is constantly disconnecting, as soon as I take my phone off the charger it immediately drops to 99% and goes down steadily from there.  The freezing of the screens is unbearable.  I got the update Xmas morning, and it was the worst Xmas present I got.

I've been monitoring my battery drain today. Sitting at 65% after about 4.5 hours. Seems pretty OK. I'm going to monitor this over the weekend as well. My usage today has been pretty average for a weekday.

My phone, my wife’s phone and 3 of my friends all have the GS3. Not all of us are on the same carrier. However we are all experiencing issues. Most of us are having fast battery drain and occasional heat issue. Some of us are having issues swiping to unlock the phone and freezing up while moving in and out of apps. The bottom line is it's an issue with 4.3. None of us had any issues prior to the update. Most of us are in IT (Support Tech, Network Admin, and Software Dev). So we are quite tech savvy. We are not about to do a factory reset with all of the apps, custom widgets and setups we have. Those that have done factory resets posted a couple of days afterwards stating the issues were still present. We're not rooted so Titanium Backup is not an option. Who has hours and hours to spend setting up a phone from scratch?? Certainly not me. What needs to happen is an OTA Update to address the issues. Samsung knows about these issues....no doubt there. These bugs are what originally delayed the 4.3 (as previously stated above). It's very frustrating to look forward to an update that was supposed to improve things and has done nothing of the sort. This issue is all over the Internet and no carrier has an update from Samsung as of yet. All we can do is wait....or root your phone and flash a custom ROM.

Absolutely an update issue, not a phone or Hard reset issue, like you said, who has time to start over?  I mean it's fun to start things fresh , but not when you have spent months setting up your phone just right, settings, apps...blah blah.

So I just did the update after many readings on here and the net, most advising not to do it...however, I'm like most and want the latest and greatest newest technology.  That being said, I was going into the update knowing that if I experienced the issues, I would try a factory reset, so I prepared my phone just in case, backed up my apps, moved all my media the the SD card, etc....I did the update 2 days ago, so far not WiFi connectivity issues, no blue tooth issues, and not lag on lock screen  (I use the pattern lock screen but have no lag when waking up the phone), no freezing..

I DO notice that the battery seems to drain a bit faster while using it, have not really checked the standby time as I am on i it a lot). Not sure a factory reset it worth attempting to rectify that OR if it even would. This is my .02
