I often start the stock messaging app to send a txt. The text seems to hang after I hit send (for days if I don't recognize it's stuck). On a restart, I get a message that the txt was not delivered, and resend always works.
How can I force it to retry short of a reboot? Can I schedule a messaging and/or phone reboot?

Where are you when it happens? Is it mms too? I have the s3 and love it, neve had any problems

There does not seem to be a pattern to when it happens. Not sure is MMS is affected, I rarely send MMS msgs.
Also, incoming msgs are not affected. Even when on outgoing message is hung, incoming msgs continue to arrive appropriately.
I've tried going in to airplane mode and back, no affect.
Also- <Deleted>, completely stock. No third party messaging addons.
